They do make money off it, since it encourages the sale of 2x cards.
I never buy a 2x card unless I know I have enough rep mules lined up to 4x it all.

Doesn't GMS have the ability to get x8? :T

Not normally. Family 2x and event 2x do not stack.
However, some other forms of exp buffs - Hunter's Luck (2x), Welcome Back Ring (1.8x), 369 event (1.6x), Cassandra's Magic (1.1x) - do stack with both.

Ok let's put it this way. Will they loose money by taking it out? No, people want the fastest route possible so 2x cards will reign supreme. Leveling too fast and easy after BB will ultimately sell less cards, so I still think my point stands.

You should try out ems then, we used to have 20x rates with 1,8x exp ring 2x exp card 2x exp buff 2x premium mini dungeon along with some stuff that I probably forgot about...

Lol yea, gonna miss the close to 1.8b exp per 4 hours.
Also, i guess the 2x removal is an indicator of big bang, but question; It doesnt say anything about 4 hours 2x, is that still there or?

WOW JMS is totally getting ready for big bang, I'm going to bet that the main office makes ALL versions that are getting big bang to cancel 2x cards.

You mean KMS? KMS can't make the other versions do anything.

And if family buffs didn't exist? You'd be just as likely to buy them regardless. Heck, making family buffs -less- useful, means people would be more likely to go for it in the instance where they don't have x1.whateverfamilybuffsgotnerfedto, because it makes less of a difference

Back then I would have been a little annoyed by this, but since the EXP curve for big bang is SOOOO awesome apparantly, I won't be annoyed. If the guy with the Johnny Bravo avatar is really correct about getting 100% in nearly an hour at level 110, I see no reason to keep the 2xp cards, I mean it took me so long to level from 110-120 back then it made me want to pull my hair out. But hey, I'm open to overpowered leveling features, not that I care if some random guy levels up to 200 in 1 day, so I'm extremely indifferent about it now.

Honestly I can't say for sure who is on top at Nexon. I can say that someone (or a board of people) is definately in charge and issues directives for the rest of the company to follow, localizing slightly to each version's culture.
How else would it go? Do you think that each branch is completely independant?

Guess that depends on the person.
For me, it's hard enough shelling out 2k nx for 20% exp (about what I gain in 4 hours of 4x, over 4 hours of 1x). I don't think I'd pay 2k for 10% exp, unless getting nx suddenly became a whole lot easier.

Each branch is independent. JMS removing 2x exp tickets was most likely completely their choice and no one elses, I doubt you'll see other versions following suit.

Doesn't the Japanese version have 1.35x the EXP, or some weird modifier? They used to have that.

That may happen, to each their own opinion I suppose.

This. JMS have had a slight leg-up in the form of 1.25x multiplier and Japan-exclusive content (original Jipang, Jipang expansion, Neo Tokyo) which game a huge advantage over even KMS players plus was the first version to have a 2x exp ticket. Japan is a fiercer battle ground for offline and online gaming (don't forget we have Nintendo, Sony and Square Enix along with dozens of top game houses Bandai Namco, Capcom, Sega, Konami, etc) and a huge cell phone gaming industry like Mobage and Gree. I think the two cancels each other out.
JMS exclusive/original content also tend to require a very high degree of player cooperation and coordination (anego, samurai warrior, core blaze) which is probably only feasible in JMS (with its homogenized player base and single culture/language). Nexon Japan will probably make their own decisions if they follow their predecessors.
