So true. The Intel Atom and it's Integrated GPU is such a joke. It handles Windows 7 well, but once you start adding some programs to the load it gets iffy. Namely, past Windows Explorer and you're basically screwed. I'm curious to see Nvidia's Ion run some benchmarks, but I'm sure it'll be a mistake as much as the Atom, lol.

I gotta say, they're not even ALRIGHT. Think about the processor market now. The Intel Atom is on 90%+ of netbooks, probably, and is a single-core, 1.66 GHz processor, OC-able to about 2.0 GHz if you're lucky and get a stable enough chip/BIOS. Something twice as good, say a Core2Duo at like 2.6 GHz are practically free, and their compatible motherboards are just as cheap. Hell, a quad-core socket 1366 runs as low as $250 or so for like 2.4 GHz, and the 1055T? Hexa-core 2.8 GHz for$200. Wow. It's really a joke how crappy this thing is. The power consumption of a higher processor isn't even enough to justify not having a better processor in netbooks right now. I regret buying this thing all the time. :|

I've yet to find something my netbook is truly good at. Mobility and battery life...sure, but these days there is better options out there as far as battery life, and if you can tote a netbook around you can probably carry around a full size notebook all the same (it's just more of a hassle).

As some people said earlier, buying a netbook to play MS (or really any sort of gaming) probably isn't the best idea. If you're at all concerned about either specs or comfort, a normal laptop would be better, desktop better still. Netbooks are only good for being lightweight, portable, and cheap.

That said if you're set on a netbook I would go for the 2 GB Asus.

If the specs are the same otherwise, OP is much better off replacing the RAM theirselves. As someone said, $100+ for a 1 GB RAM upgrade? Nahh. Just hope it has a RAM door. I know after the 1008HA mistake, ASUS knew to put a RAM door on all their netbooks so it shouldn't be a problem.

The GeForce 256 sends its greetings from 1999. (According to the Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart on Tom's Hardware, the GeForce 256 and GMA 950 have somewhat similar performance -- they're near the bottom of the chart.)

Anyway, +1 for netbook is only good for web browsing/e-mail/word processing.
