Cynic Wrote:This isn't someone's joke mult right? I don't think it would be. They know of the thread in Southperry, and it's not surprising that they would reply to it to let us know they wrote up a story on Nexon. butterfλi Wrote:Soo... any plans on posting The Consumerist's link on Nexon's official forums? :3 It'll probably get deleted. Or not, sometimes they're okay with freedom of speech on their forums, sometimes they delete it on the spot. 50/50 chance of it surviving there, but someone should post it. I can't post on their forums, every time I try to log in, I get an error message. It's the same regardless of what computer I use.

I haven't read anything yet but this was sent in back in January. It took our votes (good job guys!) to finally get them to acknowledge it so... you should all be just as proud.

Some teenager hacked a Nexon employee's account to buy the dress and converted roughly $5,500 into real cash to buy stuff in real life. Also, great job to everyone who voted! I'm very glad to see that we made an impact after all, despite "cheating" the system and getting Nexon kicked out of the brackets. And of course, Sarah deserves a great round of applause for that thread and getting her post written inside. Sarah, now that you're famous, would you mind giving me an autograph :3? One thing I'd like to point out- The Consumerist Wrote:-- they're upset with Nexon and they want us to write about it. So we have, and will continue to. See that? This isn't entirely over yet. We will make our problem heard loudly and clearly now that we've got their attention. For starters, we should give a thorough description of problems we've been having with them- such as duping, the hacking epidemic, and so forth; then we should describe Nexon's response to it by showing the extent of Nexon's insistence that the people who got hacked were the ones at fault for getting hacked to protect their hides and reputation and give examples- especially that post that talked about "social engineering". Hopefully, if we do this, all of the crap that's been going on will be surfaced and we'll be able to show Nexon's incompetence.

I talked about the password changings, social engineering blog post, and an overview of the elemental weapons incident. I'm pretty happy with it.

Oh god, this is great. Grats Sarah. Also, free advertising for Southperry!
Anyways, I managed to convince my sister to post the article on Nexon forums. I don't want to get banned from there, as it is useful sometimes, but I'm screwed if they decide to IP ban my household (my sister quit the game, so no worries, there). http://forum.nexon.net/MapleStory/forums...px#4475730

I don't know if it's automated or not, but I already got a response from the Consumerist. It said "Thanks for sharing your story. That's terrible!"
Also, I forgot to mention that I told them about how Nexon doesn't really do anything about tickets, but filing a complaint with the BBB actually does something.

I thought Takebacker, Eos, and a group of others sent a bunch of tickets to the BBB and they got a response from NEXON saying, " We don't deal with the BBB, if you have problems please send us a ticket."

Gotta admit, i'm really glad for this. This just may help not only Nexon, but all MMO companies; to show that treating players badly can have some bad public repercussions.
Also, if any of our stories get published, it would leave Nexon vulnerable to articles from other companies as well. Since most negative articles pretty much always have similar articles to reference. Which is probably why no one at L.A. Times dared to write one since all they had was their comments page vs. the word of nexon. To anyone else planning on writing to them, i suggest making the job easier for them and making the points you focus on easy to relate to for even those not familiar with MMO gaming: Loss of money in the form of virtual credit; Overreaching ToS, Banning from service and virtual credit on unfounded accusations or bugs and glitches; The bad customer service/ slow responses. Outright LIES nexon may have stated regarding their business/game. Basically, anything Nexon did affecting your money gets the point across. If you were a victim of the MTS glitch and didn't get compensated, WRITE THEM! Here's to hoping Nexon and all MMO gaming companies learn to treat their customers with the same ear and care as console game developers do. and, though it may sound cheesy, thank Consumerist themselves for seeing the playerbase for what they are: Consumers.

Thread was deleted from Nexon's forums. Looks like Nexon isn't willing to listen still.
Everyone here needs to step up. You're not going to be punished for speaking out, you're just bettering the future for everyone when you do. Status quo has gone on for too long. We have a chance for change, and we must take it. Please send your valid complaints to consumerist. Make our voices the loudest. If you do submit a complaint to the consumerist, please include the fact that Nexon is deleting the reference (for obvious reasons) but it still points to negligence.

Hiepocrite Wrote:waiting for Nexon's response lul. You actually expect a response? I doubt they would respond. To respond would bring attention to their faults, and what company wants to do that? It's business as usual. Sarah, I encourage you to make a Call to Action and keep this out of the General section.

I've heard from numerous people that by complaining to the BBB their problems had been fixed, if someone can correct me on this I'll send another email correcting the BBB thing. But I doubt Nexon would admit they do as the BBB says. |
