dam and i just bought a while ago a chaos for 75m...
should have known of this....

I heard from a buddy in game who "says" they have a bunch of hacker buddies in the family and BL, that one of the said "hackers" said not to buy the Chaos scrolls, because you will be IP Banned X_X Obviously a retarded remark, as half or more of GMS would be banned permanently.

I don't see how IP ban = perma ban, but they obviously can't and won't do that.

Am i the only one who doesn't see what the big deal is?

I couldn't care less if i'm making a hacker richer. Besides, chances are the account will be permanently banned eventually which means if he hasn't spent the money from all this chaos selling business, less total mesos in the economy which means the value of the meso goes up. This is also a very good thing, especially in an economy where the value of the meso is CONSTANTLY going down.

Besides, chances are the account will be permanently banned eventually which means if he hasn't spent the money from all this chaos selling business, less total mesos in the economy which means the value of the meso goes up. There is also the chance that a few of those hackers won't get banned by that (if it happens) ensuing ban wave, and thus contribute more to those dreaded Meso selling sites. And as we've seen, the methods those sellers use to obtain those Mesos to sell is far from legitimate methods.

Changing one's IP is a pretty easy procedure. Though i don't think it's possible on for example a college network (which is what i'm usually on), which would mean perma ban in that situation.

I don't get how people think their personal stats mean anything in a game where standards change monthly. Why bother reaching a personal goal of 7k damage range now when it'll be 10x easier 2 years from now? Trying to play this game as a single player RPG that you can beat is a never-ending goose chase as they keep adding more ways to get stronger. Items only have worth relative to other items in the game. If perfect items were easily obtainable, they wouldn't be worth anything. If everyone could get 15 att gloves, 20 att gloves wouldn't be as good. The only thing you're working for when you play this game is to have better items relative to everyone else. Everyone's damage going up all around is not a good thing at all.

The consequences of missing some chaos hackers compared to banning some chaos hackers isn't that big a deal. If this happens, as per your example of contributing to meso selling sites, then almost the same thing happens. Meso sellers to my knowledge never actually spend mesos unless it's in a transaction for real money. In this sense, they are taking mesos (a large amount of them) out of the economy until someone buys from them, when it then gets infused into the economy once again.

This is besides the point however. Like i said, deflation is never a bad thing. Whether or not you're buying from a hacker is a completely different conversation.

Only if you're an old player who isn't aware of the fact that power creeps are inevitable in every MMORPG, and still holds the belief that everyone else getting stronger more easily undermines your achievements.

For everyone else, getting stronger is never bad unless it's a ridiculous increase like the PYPQ glitch. The only way it can possibly be bad is lack of a challenge, which isn't much of an issue with the way this game is made.

Because making my character stronger is always a pleasureable thing to do. I don't really care where my character stands compared to other people, but not to the point where i can say that i embrace normal dex builds or only wear equipment for the looks rather than what makes me stronger.

Though this doesn't really affect me power-wise unless i decide to mass scroll attack PaCs to replace my 3/10 one.

I wear equips because they look cool and embrace regular builds. I was just looking for 60% cape dex scrolls in the FM today, and I saw they were 3.5 m. I wonder if they've deflated by now.

I do sometimes... mostly in private servers. haha. Other than that... my Aran has 50 DEX at level 46.

The effort is useless, not that I would ever do this anyways. At this rate Chaos Scrolls will drop down to 5m each and things like clean PAC's, facestompers and other items will inflate so high many players will be screwed from buying equipment for months.
