Password Update Campaign

Does anyone know that if you change it you have to have access to the email? ._.

It asked me to change it when I logged in on the site. No email or anything. Really easy.
A real PEACH for anyone who gets hacked around PW renewal time.

Seems like you have to change your password before you are allowed to log on to the game, even if you have changed it recently (despite what they said). The bit about can't contain previous password is also a lie. I just added another character, and it accepted it.

No rollback by the way.

I like how you only quoted the part that allowed you to cut down Southperry and not the part that mentioned the rest of the maple community "...and beyond a few whiners, I imagine it would've been pretty resolute understanding of this action..." but based on what you've said I have to wonder if that would finally be enough to get you to complain, which would be hilarious since you backed up all of their negative actions.

my reasoning is better than yours. Your reasoning is "they're doing their best guuuuuyyysssss!!" when they should have been doing their best months ago; they should have addressed this and they should have taken action. Numerous people suffered because Nexon did nothing, even with hundreds of complaints being filed. I don't rag on Nexon 24/7, check the Neo City thread in general, I completely defended putting that area in while everyone else peached. I am able to see what's good and what's bad, and most of the time it's bad.

And yes, I still believe 2x after an error is a scam, because it is. I don't complain about the 2x events during the anniversary, or the 2x scheduled throughout the month with a patch. Only when they use it to make up for something going wrong because they know full-well that they're going to make an assload off of it, and that's wrong. You shouldn't profit from your mistakes.


You just said yourself, you don't get it. Adding these preventative measures isn't bad; it's wonderful. No one here is complaining about this measure (unless they don't have access to their email address). They're complaining about the way they're going dealing with these issues. They aren't being honest with their customers, they aren't even addressing the problem, they're just trying to cover it up like sleazebags.

You can only move on once there is resolution, otherwise mistakes are bound to be repeated. Nexon will continue being a sleazy company if people don't stand up this time, just like they have in the past. Just like you allow them to do every time you go "GUYYYS THEY'RE JUST HUMAN!!" They are currently no better than the bank executives in america, and they need to be outed before they will change.

It's like the way how we manage our time clocks at Staples. We have to change our passwords as well every 90 days so it's not too much of a big change for me.

Cool, cause the ISP to the email registered to my main account doesn't exist anymore [fucking comcast]. I dont' feel like going through hoops to try and change it. -3-

From my observation, you can run MapleStory.exe, log into the site, then log into the game. Skipping the middle step yields a block to log on.

Strange, to log on one of my accounts (in game) I did not have to change the password first, and was not logged in at nexon.net (was at the site, but not logged in)

EditEdit: Swapped back to first account without going to nexon.net (browser wasn't even open), so it may not be any harder than before to switch accounts. Maybe you just have to visit .net when you first start the game, or maybe not even that.

I logged into my account on Nexon.net and it made me change my account. Now I put in the new password, and it registered it. I tried to change it, but upon putting in my old password I wanted to change it back to, I got kicked out. I can only log in with the new one until they end the log in maintenance. This sucks.

I just love the fact that one password for coming into MapleStory is not enough, but on Facebook, your e-mail and similar with much higher value, it's ok.

If you could change your password just by knowing login id and password, this is actually a massive decrease in account security o_O I mean I'm kinda sorry for people who can't remember their birthday, but the fewer pieces of information the hacker needs in order to completely hijack the account, the less secure my account becomes.

Well, they're going on the assumption that everyone has access to their email (which is a bad one) because it emails you after it's been changed and you can reset it from there if you didn't change it.

I don't want to change my god dam password I just got used to typing the new one I made a month ago this crap is gonna piss me off. >_> I wanna change my password when I want to not when Nexon tell me to.

logging in just got a lot more annoying and time consuming. I was fine with what they had before. Now it's just a pain in the ass.

oh, so this must be nexon's admission that they gave out our passwords.
But they lie, I last changed all mine in January so it hasn't been three months and they make me change them again. >.< Of course I can change them all back but it's super anoying. >.<

No, you don't need to verify via e-mail (they send one but no responce is required).
No, you don't need your last name.
No, you don't need your DOB.
No, you don't need your PIC.

This is the most insecure password change system I have ever seen. :f6:
