A lot of people can already download maple in 10 minutes. With this it would take ~1-1.5 min.

it will still be ~10 minutes to download maplestory cause nexon's server is slow.

It really seems like google has been trying to take over recently with Wave, Chrome OS, Nexus one, advertising more, buzz, and now this.

A Giga[SIZE="7"]BIT[/SIZE] per second is only 128 Mega[SIZE="7"]BYTES[/SIZE].

Regardless, that's still f[SIZE="2"]uc[/SIZE]king fast.

I don't get what Operating Systems have to do with download speed.
AT&T, Comcast, Verizon and TWC are about to get raped by google.

This is going to be very nice, though. We're lagging behind in speeds for a superpower. Necessary infrastructure upgrade.

My point being this, I've seen this before.. (I'm slightly more informed since I'm majoring in CIS, and anything that deals with internet speed, streaming speeds, or better available routers intrigues me, so I search this stuff daily, and I go to CNET a lot):

Completely doable in the future, in fact, I'm not too sure about this, but I believe it's out in major corporations out there. I'll look this up more when I have time -yawn-

Reason this is implemented within 10 year's time is due to the increase number of people that has access to the internet. Put this in perspective, there will not be enough Class A, B, and C IP-addresses to hold everyone in the future. It is expected that we'll be going up to 128-bits (Hexidecimal) to expand for future generations.

Current IP addres (IPv4) is like this:

128.02.16.198 (just a number) which translates to something liiiike:

10101011.10111000.10101111.11111110 (made up #)

In the future, instead of seeing stuff like:

198.16.182.28.192.198.2.16 (for example)

It'd be more logical and easier to use hexidecimals.

I'll be looking forward to this. Not everyone can afford expensive Cable or Fiber internet, but huge universities can. Hehehe . . . -smirk-

I'm already on verizon's FiOS (which is fiber optics as well). I wonder how much faster internet can get? I thought speed of light would be pretty much at the limit.

I don't understand how anyone can construe competitive pricing as to mean that a 1Gbps network would cost as much as a 12Mbps network, when 100Mbps networks for residential use could cost upwards of $100/month.

Now its oficial, Google will become the Overlord of earth...
