I don't recall there being a dream sequence in Eragon before Mr. GimpyMcGimpGimp finds the dragon egg. But he did find the dragon egg at dusk and ended up having some party night out between he and his pet dragon.

On an unrelated note, I didn't exactly like Eragon. I mean geez, look over there, a forest full of all-powerful uber magic-casting elves that can kill a human 1v1 with their FINGER! Okay the finger part is an exaggeration but the rest is true >_>

Well of course. Some of the most famous and popular fantasy series of our time (Star Wars, Eragon, The Lord of the Rings) are essentially the same story told with tweaks here and there, yet set in completely different and created worlds from the minds of the authors. Why do you think there's a typical high school freshman English unit called "The Hero's Journey," which fully covers the framework of stories like the aforementioned, and has been/is used in THOUSANDS of books throughout time.

However, originality isn't a lost cause in my opinion. Writers just need to be more creative and think outside the box of normal storytelling in order to craft something "fresh." Harry Potter is a good example of the halfway point between The Hero's Journey archetype and true "originality," as the series takes several classic concepts from the universal story structure (An "item" of usefulness as wands and other magical objects; an older "mentor" to the hero in Dumbledore's relationship with Harry), but spins them in different directions than the complete fictional worlds of fantasy (as seen in Middle Earth and Alagaesia) by fusing them with contemporary reality. What better reason for the "believability" of Harry Potter than the fact that half the setting is in modern London?

For a novel to be truly "new" in this changing age of literature, it must totally redefine the standards of storytelling. Yet of course even then there could exist echoes with classics of the past.

If we ever do see a Black Magician ever gets released in MapleStory, as far as we're concerned, that's about the last thing to possibly ever release and that signifies MapleStory has run out of content, and so has drawn to an end. There's almost no direction I can see this game going into; unless it warrants a sequel, which sounds actually plausible; or maybe a new story arc.

Besides, if there ever was a Black Magician boss, I think we should at least get to be able to bring Aran+Evan+all of the other godly "Hero" classes against the Dark Magician, Knights of Cygnus, and Adventurers to fight against the Black Magician, and we should at least finish up the rest of these new uber classes before we ever see the Black Magician.

And as for the plot resembling Eragon, the REAL first thing that came to mind was the upcoming DreamWorks movie How to Train Your Dragon.

Thank you very much for reminding me how even less original everything is. "The Hero's Journey" is pretty much everywhere. Unless you're talking about Greek Tragedy, in which case it is usually depressing. If you leave out the death part of the monomyth, Harry Potter fits the bill quite nicely too. I'm starting to wonder if the turtle at the beginning of "The Neverending Story" is really speaking the truth about it here or not. My expectations of originality are at 5%.

As for the Evan class, I would probably enjoy it a lot if the dragon actually acted semi-independent of you instead of being with you all the time like a summon.

The job is amazing, the sprites are amazing.
But the story is crappy as hell.
It's a total lack of creativity, a cliche.
If you read Eragon, just change the village name to henesys, instead of uncle you live with your mother.
But it's the same story. A boy finds a mysteryous egg in the forest, he lives in a farm in a small village... They're totally related.
Also, the Golem Temple disapearing from the World Map, and a house appearing there was totally logic... That doesn't apply when something appears in the map, because the map represents the discovered areas, but when you change something, this would mean that the Golem Temple was destroyed, or magically moved to somewhere.

Also, MapleStory is turning into a cliche & nonsense storyline game. the original storyline before all this job madness started was: Black Magician is the main villain, it keeps trying to destroy the Maple World. Adventurers will defeat him once he shows up.

Well, to some people like me, it does.

You'll probably have to wait til all 5 Legends classes have been released.

Considering how much the gap between class releases is being reduced, that could be within a year or two.

I believe it makes more sense to view the young hero as a descendant of the "old" Evan.

That's the way I like to think of it.

So the story is unoriginal. Yeah? Still looks like it'll be fun to play as. And play it I will, unless once it's finished it turns out to be horribly screwed in some way.

It'll probably come out just as I finally get my Aran to a comfortable level of power.
