Does the Watk get nerf too? or any high lvl weapon doesn't work? something like that? cus the atk range doesn't add up using the dmg formula. my stat nerf to about 1/4, but my dmg get nerf to more than 1/10

It's pure communist man. Everyone gets the same range no matter what your equips are. The only variations are attack pots.

Not communist. Mages are PATHETIC in there.

QFT. Hitting 1/1 with Magic Claw FTW?

Its not the same range for all but its pretty close we compared them between 3 NL's of our group

DR is the only thing I mess up on, usually I survive but I really don't know what animation to look for.

Any way to describe it? Chuey tried to tell me but I wasn't very clear of what it was from what he said.

Oh, and this probation thing is a pain in the ass. I wouldn't care if I was kicked off a run, but it takes forever for these people to get how to get me off the list since it carries over. -_-

Normal luk magicians are still pretty decent, it's only the lukless magicians that get huge penalties due to the static int. Normal luk magicians get more magic not from int than luklesses do.

By the way, to actually make the kill, you'll need at least ~8 decent attackers. The best attackers tend to be dark knights and archers due to the useful 4th job passives, followed by most of the cygnus classes.

y0y0y0y0shi0 Wrote:I like it. I learned a bit about the DR timing (I didn't know the cooldown lasted 1 minute~)

Also, in Phase 2, you said that the Crimson Rogs and Baby Rogs hit less than 2000. This should be 200, not 2000, as they usually only hit 150~180

I've been on about 10 runs now...all of which failed due to noobs (especially this one DW that was running away from the balrog jumping against the wall in the top left not attacking whatsoever and telling everyone else they were noobs because they were hitting ~2k and that he could hit 3.3k. Needless to say, he was 5x and he came in almost every one of my runs.)
1 run however did succeed (we have Vallard, Amanda, and someone else with us), except they were the only 4 to survive (I had died just at the last minute because I accidentally used Magic Claw during DR, even though I hit 1/1 on it and I healed throughout the whole PQ). You should add something about that glitch too, where if you have less than 6 people in your party when you kill the balrog, everyone dcs.

The jr. rogs and crimson balrogs can hit close to 2000 damage with their magic attacks. There's no glitch with only having under 6 survivors, I've had that happen to me several times with bonus.

Not Well-Needed Rant
 Spoiler

Edit: I took some leftover frustration from last night and put it into a mini-rant. It wasn't necessary at all, but I tend to rant. But some of my points I still believe. I really would like to see back-to-back Balrog kills or a Cyanne run when everyone's not cowering in Phase 3 xD

Really? Never noticed that they hit 2k. I guess I'm too preoccupied.
I'm unsure about the glitch though. There have been MULTIPLE reports of people dcing after killing the Balrog, all of which only had the fact that there were less than 6 people in common. I'll have to dig a little deeper into that. There is something wrong with it though, I can assure you that.

I don't know about the number of persons in party, but if they dc when Balrog dies, its very likely because they are on Vista.

Most of the people who find themselves dcing are on Windows XP, so that's not the case. I should've said that in my post as well, forgot about the Vista dc issues.

Unnecessary previous post aside...

I don't remember hearing about any glitches associated with Balrog until your posts, y0shi0. :f6: I can't help regarding that...

I had so much fun doing this pq. Me and a couple of friends of mine went there at about 10 pst. We just wanted to go with only us, but we had to take along a couple of noobs. We didn't know ANYTHING about it. We went in there and died at the bottom like a bunch of noobs. It was hilarious. So we came out and gave it another try just messing around with it. I enjoy new things like these and trying to figure them out w/o looking at a guide, but now I see it was 100% necessary lmao. It was even funnier because we only wanted to do a 1 party run just to mess around with it and this guy kept signing up and acting all ass about us puting him on the probation list. He's like "you are never going to kill it without me". We just laughed. We never intended on killing it, just messing around.

Anyways... great guide and I think just going in there blind is one of the most fun things I've done in awhile on ms.

Is there a limit to how many times you can go per day?

It should be easy to kill if you have 5 pros with onyx apple (by pros, i mean ppl who doesn't attack during damage reflection)

BALROG, WHAT IS HIS HP LEVEL?!
ITS... OVER NINE THOUSAND...
OVER NINE THOUSAND?!?!

Yea I just did like 3 runs, in all 3 most of us got pwnt at the first DR (too bad I didn't notice this thread earlier, I could have used the info about DR cooldown...). I'll try beating it again tomorrow. Also, from the bonus stage explanation it seems extremely hard to get leathers, how do they expect us to turn in 20 for a quest?

Updated with the balrog scrolls.

Main problem is getting enough people to do enough damage to finish. The vast majority of the people I know aren't interested in rog at all =/

As for the sign-up thing, I usually kick randoms until all of my team has clicked into the list. Most of the time I do it randomly, but sometimes I'll intentionally kick particularly annoying people or people who I know will attack until DR then sit in the corner waiting for us to finish.

I guess you just have to run a ton of times. You get about 2 per successful run if you share the dropped leathers evenly.

All Of This Is In Reply To Cyanne

This run with mostly randoms ended up killing Rog today, and I attacked a second too late and finished myself off with Damage Reflect, missing the Rog kill, only knowing they won via track. But what made me mad yesterday was that random lead gave me probation when I've been in a ton of runs and understand how it works, even better today (learned the gladius buff was real, lol, and the DR animation), and I'm a pretty good attacker. Then that rant popped up.

But yeah, attackers are a big deal, yet that run had no deaths till phase 3, maybe 1 I forgot about, then slowly people died from Damage Reflect mistakes. But there were VERY FEW. It was insane at how awesome the people were, and I didn't know who they were. The run after that I didn't pay attention to the **** timer and killed myself again. Bleh. Goggleemoticon Then I got my Olivia Chair and looted the extra dolls that Sean should've got and pushed myself further back in the cycle for loot.

Last bit of reply about the people thing. Same here. I was asking all my friends to ask their 3rd job friends (since Nexon had said 50-120 and never fixed it saying 50+) to come, etcetera and so forth, but no one gave a crap. It really saddened me.

And since this is a guide, perhaps you could throw in a small bit about the Hero's Gladius? I mean, I read extraction threads and all and I didn't remember this tidbit. Only needs to be in inventory, can be obtained through Manji quest chain or lolgach. (proud quester)
