ClawofBeta Wrote:Have you ever had a family member die during your life? It's different. You expect family members to grieve for you. It's not having anyone else that hurts. I've had family members die, yes. An aunt that I was extremely close to, and her death caused my cousin of about my age to spiral into depression and trouble and consequently ruin his life as well.

So basically, the closest people to you besides your family are us Southperrians?

I am deeply touched, MasPan. As your friend, I urge you to step away from this machine known as the computer, and try to hook up with some old friends from high school and college. If you're still in school, I have found the best way to make a new friend in those tightly knitted clique circles is to defend a potential friend from bullies. Sure, that friend might be a fatty, but it's better than no friends.

Like I said before, Mas, webcams and phone sex were invented for this reason.
Seriously though, you seem like a cool guy, and I am jealous of everyone who has you for a friend in real life. Don't you earn time off in the military? Go back home and visit sometime.

I had to fight myself from thinking I had never joined the military, never left home. I wanted to just let myself believe everything was as it was a year and a half ago.

Dude this happens. Tons of people die, but the world goes around. If you want to think about it this way, not 1 person is needed in the world, it'll keep on turning with or without you
That's why people live their lives, it's to try and leave some sort of impact on the world that will let them be remembered, making it seem like they never technically died since everyone remembers them. Actually this brings up another point. When do people really die? Is it when their bodies cease to function or is it when they're forgotten by others? Many famous people have died, but we're still taught their legacy in schools and such, so does that mean they really died or are they some sort of "immortal" now? Personally, I'd be happy to leave some sort of impact in the world that would make me remembered for a long time, but I don't really think that's possible, so I'll work as hard as I can for now. I've actually pondered this idea for a college essay, but never quite went through with it.

It didn't get really bad until about sophomore year, where I actually started to think about killing myself. no one really gave a shit. same with the end of my mom and step dads divorce, where even though my mom was going through a hard time, she gave me crap for getting a C on my report card. despite me being there to comfort her, take care of my bro and sis, etc. but since I started seeing josh my life has changed dramatically. everything will get better if you give it time.

You have a depression problem, I think. You could always try talking to a Psychologist/Psychiatrist (whichever one is the correct one here..), that and every single human being has thoughts like this before, as Quantact stated. As for life, just go out with a bang and have fun like everyone else.
One person once told me "If life was easy, it wouldn't be an adventure.", and I agree. I too have emotional problems, regarding break-ups, or how I think my own life is crap. But when I look at the life of others, I realize I don't have it as bad as I think I do, and I sort of smile. However, in knowing this, I try to make other's lives better by doing things for them so that they too can smile. I learned how to smile a lot recently, and I guess it is partly due to my ex that helped me. I really do owe her a lot for that, though we may have broke-up, I don't have any regrets about my choices or my reactions. As for you, don't think too much into things. Life is full of adventures, there are things that will never be solved by the human mind, such as religion. Or what it REALLY is like after death, you won't know these things for sure, so don't think too much of it. Otherwise, it'll just make you feel worse. That's my 2 cents for you. EDIT: I see you admitted that you typed in pink, and not 'puce', as you originally deemed it to be. -cynically wide grin-
I used to be deathly afraid of being forgotten and now it's one of the few things I really want out of life.
"GUYS, REMEMBER SARAH? YEAH SHE USED TO BE GREAT... IN HIGH SCHOOL. WHATEVER HAPPENED TO HER?" I don't want be to remembered for what I did in high school just as much as I don't want to be remembered what I am (or am not) doing right now. It's all worthless information.

Sorry MasPan, and others who have had thoughts like him; I can sympathize, but I also find this ironic.
Half of you having thoughts like this are the same kind of people who make a name for yourself here by sounding arrogant, being overly sarcastic trolls, or just being so abrasively active that your forum names are well-known. Yet you're worried about being remembered by people you know in real-life, or would like to know? The solution is simple: get out of the house and do something with your life. Sitting around lamenting about how invisible you've been to the real world, on a forum, is one of the strongest forms of irony I've ever seen. Do you want to know the secret to feeling like a part of this world? It's not being the best troll on SP.net, or the first of some obscure class to solo Zakum on a large global MMO, but also getting outside and mastering your other passions. If you like law, debating - study law; if you like disease, medicine - study a host (no pun intended) of biological majors and work to become a doctor or a researcher; if you like art - study to become an actor, an art historian, an art teacher, a symphony conductor, a professional musician, ANYTHING! The fact of the matter is that everyone on this planet has a variety of skills and areas of interest that they're good at - all you have to do is find the ones that aren't online and cultivate them.

Since when did half of us here have these kind of thoughts? Only MasPan is having these thoughts. I even double checked this thread to make sure. Your post only applies to MasPan-and MasPan isn't even a troll, so you can omit that point out. But yeah I kinda agree, albeit in a less "harsh" manner of tone. |
