Advantages & Disadvantages of your job.
#21
104 Sniper
----------
+ Can solo pretty much anywhere (heck, I've been leveling at sharks for 14 levels and I'm still a 1hko there)
+ Almost no hp pot cost (My regular repot is 1350 sorcs, 300 barbs and 200 pizzas)
+ Very versatile skillset
+ Can hit pretty much anything
+ Much love for ice shot & puppet
- HP is a joke
- Low level eagle = "Kill my sniper" button
- No party skills
- Slow
- People laugh at you, saying to make a bowmaster instead
- 14 levels at sharks and still no SE20 or snipe...Frown

64 Assassin
-----------
+ Fast
+ High damage
+ Never needs HP pots
+ lol skanda
- No short range move. Not a big issue because sins are fast Tongue
- People assume you're an ass based on your class

57 Cleric
--------
+ Literally no pots used
+ Easy leveling
- Weak on stuff that's not healable. Not a big issue since I usually don't go there.

57 Page
--------
+ My character with the most HP, sadly
+ Power Guard Big Grin
- Not enough skills; wind up having to waste points into stuff like threaten
- No rage Sad
- People laugh at you and tell you to make a fighter instead
- Having to worry about accuracy
- Slow

78 Priest
Advantages:
  • Partied easily.
  • Love the mobs <3
  • Fast training when I have the right people to party with.
  • People who try KSing me at H/Voodoos, generally make me smile.

Disadvantages:
  • I do get attempts at being KSed a lot when I'm solo-ing.
  • Low HP

112 Hermit

Advantages:
  • Fast attack speed.
  • Wow. It's kind of sad that I can't think of any.

Disadvantages:
  • Hermits are everywhere, so it's a bit hard to get into a party.
  • Bad reputation for being "KSers."
  • Can be pretty expensive.
  • If you're weak, you get laughed at quite a bit.

Lvl 111 Ranger

Advantages: Will receive Hurricane, Adv. Mastery and Sharp Eyes, making for a great 4th job. Very valuable for parties, ok to solo. Throughout the bowman's playing career, he will get skills that are fun and versatile. Class overall requires more strategy and attention than some others, making it rewarding and challenging.

Disadvantages: Low HP (even with washing) means constantly training on monsters that can 2hko you; this is offset but not negated by skills such as Puppet, Hawk and Thrust. While becoming increasingly more expensive to equip, the bowman does not train as fast as mages do, which means bandwagoners will be disappointed.

Okay, let's do this.

Lv. 97 (1H) BW White Knight

Pros:
-People are less obsessed with 1H BWs compared to certain swords... (ZOMG RED KATANAS AND THIS IS SPARTAAAAA!!!!)
-Can train anywhere (not quickly necessarily, but reasonably) as long as mobs are elementally weak or can be frozen.
-ZOMG SHIELDS BABY!!!! (Although I don't really see a lot of W.ATK shields in FM often.)
-Power Guard, High HP, and freeze make WKs a forgiving choice if you're clumsy. (You won't likely get 2 shotted by mobs until you begin training at Leafre mobs.)

Cons:
-The range for 1H BW is extremely short. (This makes mobbing at places like Wolf Spiders quite annoying.)
-Unstable damage due to BW formulas.
-Not as many scrolled BWs to be found in FM because of the lack of obsession.
-Slow movement, dependent on speed gear and speed pills to keep up. (Low DEXers don't really have this luxury if they need to wear accuracy gear to train wherever they do.)
-Lack of range in general with mobbing. (I envy how I/Ls can freeze things behind them, while I have to position myself so the mobs are in a nice straight line.)

DrRusty Wrote:@ harrisonzed, can't marksmen's summon freeze too?
Oops, I forgot to account for that. Anyways, at the time I was writing it, I was thinking of only mage classes in general. You're right, frostprey does freeze.

LUKless STR bandit-to-be
level 28 (I'll get him up, trust me)
Advantage: incredibly stable damage (like 90% mastery)
Disadvantage: much lower maximum damage

LUKless pure poison wizard
52
Advantage: higher than normal LUK magic claw, has potential to level very quickly from 60 to XX with poison, magic cancel isn't very effective against poison (low hit but poisoning = 1 HP to death after 40 seconds anyways).
Disadvantage: without being able to hit high EXP monster, training is hell and pure poison is rather unwelcome to PQs.

111 I/L Mage

The good:
- Fun job to play.
- Freeeeeze, great mob skills, decent source of damage.

The bad:
- Unwanted for bossing </3
- Mage damage formula gets us owned.
- Hardly anyone finds us useful half the time, unless it's leeching. All they do is go LOLIL.

142 Bishop:

Skill Advantages:
Teleport - Fast movement and ability to go through walls/floors/monsters without touching them
Heal - no hp pots needed
Dispel - no all cure pots needed
Magic Guard + invincible + Elemental resistance = You (almost) can't die
Holy Symbol - Extra experience
Genesis - godly (in more ways than one) AoE training skill
Mystic Door - Can repot and get back to training without losing the map
 Doom

Other Advantages:
Cheap training (it costs me far less mesos to train faster than other classes of the same level)
Wanted in parties to train in
Wanted in bosses for heal/dispel/res

Disadvantages:
Dispel = Death if you are in the wrong place
Low income from training.
bishops have become so bandwagoned that i wish i had made another class

160 Red Katana Hero

Advantages
  • Extremely good DPM
  • Rush can be used in multiple ways
  • High survivability
  • "The ultimate solo bossing class"

Disadvantages
  • Ranged attackers are still more popular, even if you have higher DPM, solely because of their apples lasting 5 minutes longer
  • Extremely expensive to upgrade
  • Hardly anyone really knows what you're able to, besides "ur dmg rox"
  • Unable to participate in certain bosses unless extremely HP washed
  • Unstable damage regardless of weapon, even with sword you won't 100% 2hko skele until late 16x/17x

Only things I could come up with.

121 Paladin

Advantages:
- stun, freeze

Disadvantages:
- low range
- low damage
- low speed
- no party skills

My DK is generally the opposite of this, aside from speed - high damage, high range, very good party skills, no stuns. On the other hand, it's so much more versatile than the Paladin that there's always a place to train where stun/freeze aren't necessary.

I barely break even training on my Paladin, my DK made 80mil in 10 levels..

Lv. 105 PADK

Advantages:
-Always wanted in parties due to HB
-Mobbing is a very easy task with PA Fury. (Himes and Wolf Spiders, anyone?)
-High HP even without HP washing
-High range
-Easy to make money

Disadvantages:
-Not good at bossing like a spear DK is. Sacrifice is the bossing skill for us and the recoil can be dangerous sometimes. It's also not Spear Crusher >.>
-Somewhat unstable damage
-Priest is needed most of the time and some like to "discriminate" because I use a polearm.
-Nasty comments/being called weak due to being pure polearm.

All that I write below is my opinion, you are welcome to disagree with me Smile

87 Ice/Lightning Mage, Retired.
Advantages:
- Movement ability (Teleport).
- Fun to freeze stuff.
Disadvantages:
- Slow, SLOW training.
- The places that are worth training in, time/exp ratio-wise, burn potions very quickly and I've been having to leave a map just to repot, very often.
- With F/P Mages being very similar, I don't feel unique.
- You're bound to be very slow. You can't move while casting skills or attacking, as opposed to most of the other classes.
- Control might get very problematic as time passes. I've been playing for more than a year, and I still don't feel like I have complete control of my character.

Thanks for reading.
