Not really, I don't think MSea is that connected to KMS. They might even already have an idea of everythings going to look like.

I don't think an alternative inspiration in artwork is a sign of idiocy. Many artists will liken their work more towards another subject with which they are more familiar.

Sorry, by dumb I didn't mean to call them idiots, if you understand what I mean there. But rather, if a contest asks you to draw special bear and you draw SMOKEY THE BEAR then it is kind of silly! I understand using what you know, are familiar with, and enjoy as inspiration to draw from but if you just copy another idea and use it for a contest that it has nothing to do with the idea you're essentially stealing or paying tribute to then that is "dumb", and not the same as drawing inspiration from it.

It's one thing to jokingly post a picture like half the other posts in this thread, but it is completely different to use an existing idea and seriously enter it into a competition.

It is, but I would laugh if nexon really did mean for the black magician to look like the dark magician. I mean it wouldn't be the first thing they have refined from somewhere else.

The Dark Magician's name in the OCG card game and the Japanese version of the anime is "Black Magician". Just like Dark Magician Girl's name is "Black Magician Girl".

I was afraid too. In fact, it worries me every time I see his name or any type of description. It's even worse when his subordinate, Black Witch, reminds me of the name of another character from the latest Yugioh series (5D's), although granted her full name is "Black ROSE Witch", but still. I can't help but imagine it every time.
