KajitiSouls Wrote:So? My source images were 256 .png, and I don't see a reason why a 256 .gif would have to be less than ideal quality. (lossless compressions ftw!) Actually 256 is truecolor if you're using 24-bit pixels. I'm not about to give a shyt about some supposed .gif limit if I can produce something closer to the original; something probably went wrong in translation. The one I managed to produce is .gif and it doesn't have any artifacts in it. I do have MW on my Paladin btw, so I do know what it looks like.

Also, MapleStory images are in 256 32-bit pixels.

Srry if I sound mean, but I really like perfection xD

Wait, wat. 2^24 is 16 777 216 different combinations possible. Gif can only use 256 of those.

But well, 256 different 32-bits looks plausible by the graphics they have.

Edit: Checked it, some images contain up to 1500 different colours.

Okay, this is getting a bit confusing o.O

I'm referring to a tiling trick in the .gif format which allows it to display true color. The "tiles" are a 16x16 map for the color palette. It's a bit silly, but it works. See the GIF89a standard.

At any rate though, the MW animation from the 4th Job Skills Table still looks better than AngelSL's MW animation, even though it's cropped. The former looks a little bit grainy, but I'm guessing that's not from color loss.

Hm, I need to look more on .gif...

But is that implying that gif may use more than 256 different colours?
