Natural Nexon paranoia.
They're asking "bait" questions, so people expect retaliation.
And the more dark and horrible Nexon Sins you've comitted the more likely for that to occur.
It wouldn't be their best PR, but with their current approach trying to prove they're not all bark and no bite, admitting to breaking the rules gives them a clear invitation to punish you, just like your "I'm a Hacker" posting rule.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.
I think Eos and others are talking about banning because, in their applications, they are blatantly admitting to violating the ToS and/or being able to (and not actually) hack maplestory.
I point blank admitted to being a data analyst / programmer / database administrator and owning my own free-online-game since 1999.
Cleanly admitted to extracting and posting thier monster book and maker recipes too, but also stated that i've never provided info to PServers, never played a pserver, and never modded my wz's and that my game is so unrelated to them it wouldn't be a conflict of interest so much as "prior work experience".
So far I think Paul and I have the biggest chances of being banned and I don't think he even applied. Wonder if Isaac will.
It'll be interesting to see if any of my 14+ accounts still exist by Monday or if they go straight to panic mode and purge me as the clearly dangerous menace that I am.
I don't intend to apply, I don't really need more responsibilities at the moment :p I also have pretty high standards for something like this; I have very little confidence that many people of GMS will use this system properly. Hell, I'm not even sure I would be able to resist the temptation to abuse it. I just don't trust most people with it really.

I figured you'd think something along those lines.
I have enough time donate an hour here and there, and I have a very personal reason for wanting this to succeed - I spent months being harassed by hackers day after day as we discussed. Not many people are as willing as I am to sit and endure that when their only options in this game are "take it" or "quit". Quitting is always the easier path. I want this to succeed because no one should be left with those options in a game. Games are meant to be recreational, not stress inducing.
That said - You have less say in a system you're not a part of. If I want it to succeed the best thing I can do to try to help it is to take part. If they reject me I at least know I did as much as I possibly could. If they accept me, maybe I can make a difference. It may crash and burn, but either way I intend to give it my all.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.
Fiel Wrote:I surely hope you put that on your application.
It's on there.
They also have nearly three months worth of tickets from me as I recorded weekly my little escapades asking for them to do something about it.
Between that and the fact that I've clearly had the ability to tamper with WZs for over a year, yet crawled day by day, inch by inch to 200 without using it are probably my two most supporting bits of character evidence in my application. Throw in my administrative experience from my own game and familiarity with keeping a "Player" account separate and secret from an "Admin" account and if they can overcome their paranoia and actually think about it, I'm a darn good candidate.
But we'll see.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.
They would be worse than foolish to turn down someone of your talent! However, we are talking about Nexon here. Best wishes.
I will not be submitting an application and reasons are simple. I have little enough time to play the game as it is. Between life and "guild" issues in-game,it seems like I deal with more problems than playing. I am only a junior, sigh.
Good luck to everyone that is willing to put honest effort into making this thing work.
Guys I think having extra accounts is ok, they just want to make sure they dont put you in the program twice, and give other people a chance too. This shouldnt be like Tespia where you just spammed different accounts for the applications, this is to make sure that you dont register for this program on several NX IDs.

Spoiler
Maple Guide Application Process
We appreciate that you are interested in the Maple Guide program! (Yes we know that the title doesn’t fit the job, but we’re working on it!) I strongly suggest that you read my forum post regarding this program before continuing. I’ve answered a lot of questions regarding this program. You can find my forum post on our forums at http://forum.nexon.net/MapleStory/fo...howThread.aspx (it’s at the bottom). To get into the Maple Guide program, all applicants will need to meet the following restrictions.
1. Meet one of these two character requirements:
-----a. Have a character at least level 70.
-----b. Or have a character at least level 45 on an account created before May 2007.
2. Your account is not currently banned.
3. Your account has no prior abuse for hacking.
4. Be in our service area.
5. Like Pie. Or Cookies. (Just kidding! No, but seriously, you must like pie or cookies. Or cake. Mmm cake.)
If you meet these criteria, and you are still interested, you will need to submit an application. All applications must be sent to Einquiry@Nexon.net. If your email is submitted somewhere else, we won’t get it. Please remember that if you submit anything other than your application to the above email, it will not be responded to. All account related questions or game questions must be submitted through the ticketing system. When you submit your application to our email, please make the subject read, “Maple Guide Application for < Nexon ID here>”. This is so that we don’t lose your application! (Tip: Include your Nexon ID in the brackets. Don’t put <Nexon ID here> when you submit the ticket. We think that this is self explanatory, but you never know… )
So do we have to put our ID like: "<Fiel>" or would it just be "Fiel"
And now, the application! Please provide the following information. Incomplete applications will be immediately disqualified.
Full name (First and Last):
Birth date:
Your Account ID:
Forum ID (if applicable):
Main character’s name that you play on:
Main server that you play on:
Character’s name that is at least level 70/ 45:
· Do you play on any other servers? If so, please explain and include servers and play time on other servers.
· Does the name and birth date that you have provided on your application match the name on your account? If not, please explain.
Obvious trick question to see if you lied at all....
· Do you have any other accounts? If so, please provide Account IDs for each of your other accounts.
· Does anyone else have access to your account(s)? If so, please explain who and why.
· Include city, country and time zone.
· For what times do you plan on volunteering?
· Do you play any other Nexon games?
· Have you ever played on a private server? (No, this is not a trick question.)
· Do you have access to a microphone?
· If you qualify, would you be able to submit a copy of one of the following forms of identification: driver’s license, state identification, or passport?
Umm no....why would you need one of those?
· Is there any prior abuse on your account that you know of? If so, please explain.
HOW WOULD WE KNOW?!?!?!!?!
· Before we investigate your account, is there anything else that you wish to include?
Good luck to everyone!!!

Comments and questions in the spoiler, bolded are the things I responded to.
I'm not sure if I should like lie about my age or not here....lol.
Bah. I only have an account with a level 46 Fighter remaining. I don't know if I made the account before May, 2007, though... Is there any possible way to check? If not, I'll just use my best friend's Bishop. f3
Don't know if it's been said yet guys but the multiple account thing is probably for them to find out if you have a character on the server they would want to place you in.
-goes out of retirement just to apply-
I can't resist abusing the power that would come from this. I'll apply using my Demethos account, so hopefully I can end up in Broa. If I end up in Broa, say goodbye to RedFalchion. I'll go attempt to ban the members. The moment someone in RedFalchion curses, they'll be an instant 1-month ban for them. All members of RedFalchion can go themselves, especially Celsious

I think people are just getting too paranoid about the questions. Haha.
Yeah, very much so. .
Shouldn't be paranoid unless you have something to hide I think. :<
I put in my application. I was as honest ever could be, I wouldn't be surprised if mine were banned either, but hell, that's quite alright.
