Pap Solo Method (PADrK)

Power Guard as well. There's a slight increase, but it's there. At least it feels like it.

mw, stance, and combo cast faster for sure. i havent noticed an improvement for pg, rage, or booster because i usually jumpcast those and by the time i hit the ground i can move.

seems like casting on a rope brings cast time down to a minimum, which the 2nd job skills are already set to. other skills get an improvement.

good work on your strategy. i had considered doing this while i had 0 stance, but by the time i would have put it to practice i killed pap too fast to care. once you get down to ~20 min runs the bombs usually max out when pap has about 1/3rd of his hp left and it just isnt worth the trouble, especially with the shorter range of brandish.

You don't have to wait until you have 10k zerk hp to use the top platform. Just get ready when you hear the bomb summon sound, and overpot if top bombs spawn. Roar to get rid of them and bring your hp back down to zerk level. Much better than wasting time on the bottom getting stunned/dispelled while waiting for max spawn on the top.

I'll try pinning on the right from the start next time and see if my solos get any faster. Atm it takes around 20mins w/o apples or anything, and my time hasn't really improved much since 15x. =/

Can't pap for another 12 hours though. Rolleyes

May be worth noting that I don't have max roar, but that would just affect how much I need to overpot by. Biggest concern is that, with the moderate bit of lag I suffer from, I wouldn't hear the bomb summon in time. I never really did pay attention to his animations. It's something I can work on in the future though.

Seriously? Next thing I'll be told is that you don't hear ringing alarms when the top bombs are going to explode on you for 8k.

Every cue I can get really helps me do my A game with bosses and other situations.

KajitiSouls Wrote:NUUUUUU MOUNT BAD AT PAP!! I once got stunned using mount to override pap's slow debuff and I didn't react fast enough and died.
If you right click the mount button, I think you can get off the mount during the stun (someone confirm this).
KajitiSouls Wrote:I can't imagine how you can "dodge" stun/dispelling if it doesn't have damage attached to it. You get stunned/dispelled even if you're invincible.
Actually, shadowers can dodge stun dispel when they "disappear", hence invincibility. I don't know if this works for warriors though, because supposedly you do disappear during rush, which is why you don't take damage during rush.

Lag doesn't matter, as his red vortex thing is a CLEAR indication that he will summon pap within two seconds, and even when you miss that signal, there'll STILL be the sound coming from the bombs before they explode, which is another second.

Missing one signal is ok, missing two is just like saying "I'm not going to bother because I probably won't make it anyways". You will never know unless you try.

No you can't. You can't dodge Pap's Dispel or Stun unless you are on the high platforms or unless you are far away enough from him.

But Pap's stun and dispel don't do damage, which means they work regardless of invincibility of any kind. I would believe both Shadowers and Warriors mode of invincibility are the same, and it wouldn't work to avoid Pap's stun and dispel. Or slow, since that doesn't do damage either.

About the only way to dodge them is to rush INTO him, taking damage. Think melee Manon/Griffey strategy. As for bombs, I never said I missed their ringing and whatnot, only that I don't pay attention to Pap's animations. The bombs are quite obvious in their pre-explosion whining. And, again, I said it's something I need to work on in the future. I simply haven't papped more than a few times, and most previous times were with a lot of distractions (watching TV, several other people spamming attacks, particularly Chain Lightning, which is quite distracting and makes seeing Pap's animations pretty difficult). I also have some minor attention problems, so my eyes are constantly darting from pap to my damage to myself to my health to pap to my health etc.

At any rate, it's something I'll work on as I solo him more. No need to make a big deal out of it.

You can. It's the only reason I Berserk-mount hunt GK while waiting for people to get to Pap. "I didn't react fast enough" - I believe she meant that she didn't right-click fast enough. If she was stunned on mount and didn't know about right-clicking, she wouldn't be able to react at all. But that's another topic.

This is a good idea. I wonder if it's plausible to do the opposite for a Spear DrK, as Crusher's range is a lot shorter than Fury's, and can only pin Pap from the second platform on the right. I'll try it whenever I actually move to Ludi.

I just said that Pap's stun, dispel and slow are unavoidable (assuming you aren't up in the platforms) because they don't do damage. Manon/Griffey's debuffs do. In any case where debuffs are involved, if they do damage as well, they have to actually hit you with the associated attack or it doesn't work. Otherwise, it automatically works.

If you need another example, I remember one incident with having Ice Rushed a GK. While I succeeded in freezing it, I was also stunned, since GK's stun ability doesn't do damage. Lol.

Ah, then nevermind that. Also, thanks to all the compliments and input, I appreciate it. I'll post any refinements I make to it as I pap more often.

Heh, I spent a while hunting GKs in my 10x and I remember sitting there with both of us stunned for 5-6 seconds quite a few times, since ice's freeze wears off slowly when you don't attack again.

Papped twice tonight, pinning on the right. Times were 17/18 mins, which is a couple mins faster than my usual 20ish mins. Pinning to the right is definitely preferable. Only thing that annoys me is during the beginning when im trying to get on the platform, and pap uses slow making it harder to jump up there. Maybe I just fail at jumping though. o_O

Some pros/cons:

Pros:
- No more rope climbing/getting stunned while attempting to get back up there Rolleyes
- Assuming you don't accidentally walk off the platform, it's very hard to fall off with max stance. You get knocked back to the left, so you can stay on that platform for the whole fight. Very convenient.
- Pap no longer bumps into you occasionally (which happens to me a lot on the left platform unless I get myself to stand just barely falling off the platform), which can make you fall off quite often.

Cons:
- The bottom bombs have a much easier time jumping up to explode on you, although I usually just jump when they do or let fury hit them and tank it if they explode since they don't do that much damage.
- When pap is knocked back far enough, fury completely misses occasionally. (Fury has two ranges. It misses with the shorter one.) This doesn't happen very often though.
- What I said earlier about jumping up there. Rolleyes Although I'd prefer that over constant rope climbing anyday.

Something interesting to note, although nearly useless, is that if you have 17+ jump, you can jump over pap's bomb explosions at the same level as it. Having extremely jump will also let you make the jump from the 2nd platform to the 3rd even in spite of being Slowed. Mount works too since its stats override that of slow's (not recommended).

a hp sacrificial method. its a trick a 3 hit combo that most pa drks should beable to do. you make a macro rush then pa crusher then fury. and then you have mw dragon blood and hb on another macro for dispell.

basically with this method i killed mannon in under 4 mins
rush =7-19k
then crusher = 10(3)-16(3)
fury = 22-42

so min in berserk =59k
max in berserk =109k per macro combo.

i used it today on mannon killed really fast.

its prolly slower than 3 furys spammed but for some reason it feels faster.

i wanna see if its just me.

im gonna solo pap tomorrow to see how well i do. also looking for tips for padrk bigfoot (serkless)

I don't recommend having high JUMP for DrKs zerking at Pap, as it's easy to set off the top bombs when you have more than 110 jump or so, making it difficult to max out the spawn. The above seems like it would be a bit slow. I kill manon in about 3-4 mins just sitting on him zerk+fury'ing with an odd Sacrifice in there.

xD it might just be. but ill try it on pap to see what results i get. because its macro all i have to do is press the key.

Yeah, for manon/griffrey, I've always just stoon on him to completely avoid stun/dispel. Of course all fury is faster, easier, and does more damage over time than rush + pa fury + crusher.

Bigfoot is easier for polearm fury since it has much longer range so we're less likely to die if bigfoot breaks loose of being knockedback. I haven't done bigfoot in awhile, but from what I remember, it just requires timing. If bigfoot breaks loose, run back a bit and rush him back into the corner.

Manon shouldn't be taking you that long at 14x or 16x... I can kill griffey in under 4 at 133 and I don't even have an elemental advantage on him nor my main attacking skill....
