Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire announced
MasPan Wrote:Hmmm. I can dig it, but didn't Mega Absol kindof already fill that schtick?

Not really. This is the first real tanky Pokemon with Magic Bounce (Mega Absol, Espeon, and Xatu aren't really...bulky).

Although I'm not sure if this is worth it over Prankster.

Seems nerf-ish. Why sacrifice priority for defense when prankster Sableye manages just fine as it is

You could always abuse Prankster and save the Mega as a gambit. Depending on how much you'd have to change a moveset to use the Mega to any good effect. Unfortunately it can't learn Thunderwave, which would be awesome (Prankster T-Wave, then Mega).

Especially since Will-o-Wisp is already a staple move on Sableye.

Not sure this Mega is worth it, but I'll have to see its increased Special Attack first.

I like it overall, since there are better Prankster users anyway and I'm a huge fan of Magic Bounce, especially on something with as many resistances as Sableye. Just imagine how annoying it could be as a status tank that can't be taunted...

And it does have Recover...I'd use it, I think.

Weird that they would boost it's Special Attack when it doesn't learn that many special moves.

I like Sableye's prankster shenanigans, especially with trick + choice item to cripple walls and hazard setters.
The Mega evolution does give it some unpredictability with a different style of play. Depending on how the mega evolving mechanics and what new moves are added to OR/AS, I'd probably still set it up as a defensive / staller sort of thing. Foul play still works pretty well for it.

Yeah, it doesn't learn that many good special moves. At most if his special attack goes high enough, power gem is a pretty fitting and unique attack for him.

Uh, better prankster users?
I can only think of klefki, who is not strictly superior to sableye at all.

Since turn order is decided before mega-evolving, wouldn't you still be able to fire off a priority status move on Mega Sableye's first turn in battle?

Maybe Whimsicott, but I'm not sure.

Nah.
Whimsiscott is a tier below both of them.

Before Klefki, I had a lot of fun using prankster with Liepard. It can depend on chance to pull off and be a little predictable, but it's funny when it works. Typical moveset I used is: swagger, encore, foul play, and another status move. You can mix the moves around using substitute (it can protect you from the swaggered hits), taunt, thunderwave, yawn, trick, or something else. You can force switches with yawn and encore. It can just cripple a lot of things with the other moves.

During some random showdown matches with it, I got a lot of people to rage at me with this Liepard.

Yeah, Klefki ended up taking that role up better due to better defensive typing, Smogon ended up banning swagplay when people started spamming Klefki.

I had a pretty interesting idea for a Mega Feraligatr: Water/Dark typing with Tyrantrum's Strong Jaw ability. Then it would have a STAB + Ability Boosted Crunch, as well as Ice Fang.

PERSONAL GYM OMG

I never realised this till now, but it seems like I'm a huge sucker for customisation. I loved Wonderland Online's extensive manufacturing and house decorating systems.

Only thing that would make me even happier would be the ability to install spiral staircases or vines to add a second level to your base.

A customised character? ._.
