THey need to announce some good exclusives for this, because other than Pikmin, Rayman Legends and Bayonetta there's nothing coming we know of. (wonderful 101 doesnt look that good to me).

Pikmin + 3 games from 3rd parties as exclusives is actually pretty decent. Also, add monster hunter to your list (IF you're in to MH, I'm not really). The problem is that a lot of the multiplatform games that are upcoming still aren't getting Wii U versions.
There are barely any ps3(Last of Us, Beyond... Sly cooper reboot?)/360 (Uhh... Gears of war judgement... and I can't think of anything else) exclusive games coming either, but plenty that are getting PS3/360/PC releases that should really be on Wii U too.
Which is a big mistake, because as of right now, Ubisoft has the right idea with Zombi U/Rayman legends/Assassins creed 3/ Just dance 4/ that fitness game.
Seriously, everyone is missing out on easy building of brands with the launch of the new console. It's no wonder Ubisoft is doing so well in the games industry right now, when they're the only people really willing to leap onto every new piece of hardware to build support with the customer base.
However, the outlook is significantly brighter for the Wii U eshop, with the following due this year/2013 (including some ports here, but still)
Cloudberry Kingdom
Bit Trip RUNNER 2 (Releasing simultaneously on Wii U/360/ps3/pc)
1001 spikes (By nicalis, so expect one gamebreaking bug initially in the American version, and the Europe version in the year 2145)
8 bit-boy
Mighty switch force :Hyper drive (Improved version of 3DS game by way forward, with new levels)
Mutant Mudds
Nano Assault Neo (Really good game, been playing it quite a bit)
Pier Solar HD
A new Shantae (UNtitled)
Trine 2(Updated port with Gamepad support)
And frankly, I'm far more interested in several of those than the more violent games that are coming out multiplatform on 360/ps3 (Though having them on the Wii U would still be preferable to not having them, obviously).
As for announcements of wii U nintendo games? Realistically, nothing major is going to happen until E3 at the earliest. We might get a single title announced between now and then in nintendo direct, but I'm sure the majority of the focus will be on games we already know about.
There are still so many great games that came for both PS3 and Xbow which are not coming to Wii U (yet), plus many more, mostly to PS3, coming soon like Ni no Kuni, The Last of Us, Beyond, Metal Gear Rinsing, Metal Gear Ground Zeroes, Bioshock infinite, Sly cooper, Crysis 3, GTA V (even though might come tp Wii U), Metro Last stand, Total War Rome, and so on and on and on. This is one of the reasons I got mad when I saw Game and Wario. Sure I wasn't expecting a new Zelda or Metroid but what about a new Wario World?.
As for Ubisoft, I'm not so happy with what they are doing. They released like 5 games to Wii U and I believe none got good reviews. ZombiU can be debatable but ESPN and Ragging Rabits are doubtlessly bad. It feels like for some reason they rushed all these proyects and were about to do just the same with Rayman Legends until they held back because, well, it's their mascot.
At the same time you got PS4 and 720 likely to come out next year making it hard for those like me that don't have money to buy multiple consoles to decide what to get. I'm pretty sure the next E3 will play an important role on how successful will 2013 be for the Wii U.
So I caved and bought trine 2. Is the eShop as abandoned in America as it is in Europe, in that there has been a grand total of 1 game uploaded since the thing launched.
This, and the splitting of the Wii U and Wii shops is absolutely terrible.

O_o Nope. There are plenty of games in the North American eShop. And I agree about the Wii U + Wii shops. I think Nintendo is eventually going to bring over most of the titles from the Wii shop when they implement the Virtual Console, which, according to Iwata, is coming soon.
And I'm not getting a Wii U soon, they cost about 2000$ dollars in my country (Hell yeah inflation!!!!, official exchange, in black market dollar it's about 800 lol) anyway it's too much compared to a PS3 or a Xbox 360 both with three games cost around 1000$ official and 400$ in the black market. And I'm talking about the Wii U deluxe....
Link Wrote:O_o Nope. There are plenty of games in the North American eShop.
Which is not what I asked at all. There has only been one game uploaded since the Wii U came out, ignoring the games that were there at launch. It's turns out it's the same for NA.

Are you sure? There were a bunch of titles under "coming soon" that are no longer under that and are available for download now.
Quote:I wouldn't get your hopes up.
What do you mean? The Virtual Console for the Wii U was planned a long time ago. It'll feature games up to the Game Cube era.

Absolutely sure. I looked through every "nintendo download" post for NA on Nintendolife, there hasn't been anything for NAs eShop since launch.
Feel free to point out one that has come out since then if I'm wrong.

Don't get your hopes up about them giving out free "Wii U" versions of VC stuff that you already bought on the Wii eShop.
Should they? Sure. But nintendo expects you to pay a second time for the same ROMs on the 3DS. I have no doubt they would pull a real plantain move and ask for a third payment for "Wii U" versions of the roms that are better in some way (basically offscreen gamepad support).

Quote:XSEED Games Announces Pandoras Tower for Spring 2013 Release
Fan Favorite Wii-Exclusive Action RPG to be Released for the North American Market
Torrance, Calif., (January 16, 2013) XSEED Games, an independent-minded publisher, today announced they have come to an agreement with Nintendo that will bring the highly anticipated action role-playing title, Pandoras Tower, exclusively to Wii in Spring 2013. Developed in Japan by Ganbarion, Pandoras Tower takes the classic fairytale theme of a maiden in distress and adds a violent twist, with the protagonist setting out to slay over a dozen giant monsters and collect their flesh in order to free his beloved from an evil curse. The agreement with Nintendo grants XSEED Games exclusive publishing rights to Pandoras Tower in North America.
Its fantastic to be bringing such a highly-anticipated title like Pandoras Tower to such a vocal fan base, said Shinichi Suzuki, President and CEO of XSEED Games. North American gamers have been very patient in waiting for this game to be released, and were confident they will be pleased when they get their hands on the title.
A tale of unfortunate circumstances, Pandoras Tower opens in the Kingdom of Elyria, where an unassuming singer named Elena succumbs to a wretched curse during a festival performance. Bearing an arcane mark on her back, she starts transforming into a savage monster, causing the town guards to attempt to kill her in order to prevent it. A young ex-mercenary named Aeron, whose heart has forever been pledged to Elena, whisks her away in the nick of time and with the help of a mysterious witch named Mavda, he learns what must be done to avert her wretched fate. He must descend into The Scar, a massive chasm tied down by twelve chains connected to a floating island in its center, atop which sit thirteen interconnected towers. There, he must use his sword and a sacred chain to battle his way through each tower and extract the flesh of the boss masters that dwell within, which Elena must consume in order to reverse her ongoing transformation. But the clock is ticking! The longer Aeron takes to vanquish each beast, the less human Elena becomes, affecting her character and the games final outcome in a profound manner. Time is of the essence...
Pandoras Tower was developed in Japan by Ganbarion in conjunction with Nintendo, exclusively for Wii. The game will be published by XSEED Games in North America in Spring 2013. XSEED Games will release more product updates in the coming months.

Players who own both versions will be able to transfer their own personal save data from the Wii U version to their copy on Nintendo 3DS, and vice versa, ensuring a seamless continuation from the HD experience at home to hunting on the go in immersive 3D.
The world of Monster Hunter can be experienced alone or in local multiplayer for up to four players on Nintendo 3DS, while Wii U players will be able to form hunting parties of up to four players online or enjoy the hunt with Nintendo 3DS players via a local wireless connection. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, the biggest Monster Hunter title yet, launches across Europe on 22nd March exclusively for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
i'm gonna hold until E3 to choose if getting a WiiU or not, because heck so many fucking games coming to other consoles while the WiiU gets only comic games...
As for Pandora's tower. Why U no do a remastered version for Wii U?
I suppose since Xenoblades and The Last Story sold really well among Wii U owners, they consider it not necessary.
byakugan Wrote:As for Pandora's tower. Why U no do a remastered version for Wii U?
I don't know how much you think pandoras tower will sell, but it won't be that much. All Xseed is doubtlessly doing is slapping NA region coding onto the Europe version of the game. It's still worth note that it's coming out. Redrawing all the assets in HD would be extremely expensive, and I doubt PT will sell well enough to justify it, as well as it would be a major plantain move making it so that all the Wii owners who have been waiting for it couldn't play it.
Quote:I suppose since Xenoblades and The Last Story sold really well among Wii U owners, they consider it not necessary.
Because cutting off a significant amount of the people who would buy it at launch is a terrible idea, as I already said, and should be obvious,a good chunk of the people who are waiting for it will have been waiting for the Wii version. A game like PT won't have long legs, and will pretty much profit or not based on launch day sales/preorders.
I think it being a wii game has nothing to do with the other two (Though the success of The last story in NA certainly contributed to xseed deciding to bring it out), and all to do with cost vs possible playerbase.
Quote:WiiU gets only comic games...
It sounds like you shouldn't get a Wii U. Wait and get a Xbox 720/PS4/High end gaming pc. It should be pretty obvious what you get with a nintendo console. I can get a good portion of the games that aren't "comic games" as you're calling them elsewhere; Nintendos style of game is what you buy a Nintendo console for.
Games like Pikmin, Rayman legends, The wonderful 101 , and to a lesser extent, Bayonetta have me hyped. If they aren't your type of game, fair enough, that is after all, the reason for having a choice of console in the first place.
Quote: Oh pomegranate. I didn't know Rayman Legends was coming out so early. Looks like I'm getting 2 games with my WiiU on the 19th.
Do it, the demo (on the eShop) was ace. I've had it preordered since day 1 and have high expectations.
Lozmaster Wrote:It sounds like you shouldn't get a Wii U.
Maybe you are right, although I should have been more specific about what I meant by comic games. Rayman Legends, wonderful 101 and Pikmin are no issue, actually I am interested in those games, instead I was refering to Epic Mickey (which I heard was bad in Wii U), Avengers and Ben 10 sort of games. You can also add those trivia, fishing, hunting games, oh and freaking Game and Wario. I know those sort of games come out for all consoles, but my problem is right now thats all thats coming for Wii U (with a handfull exceptions).
byakugan Wrote:Epic Mickey (which I heard was bad in Wii U)

Didn't that tank on all the consoles though? It's multiplatform across 360 and ps3 , so yeah.
Anyway, Surprise, Europe nintendo direct Tomorrow. Someone else will have to spam the thread with all the big announcements (lol, yeah right), I have an exam
However, I don't think that's what the Nintendo Direct is about. iwata tweeted.
Quote:Iwata: "This time, the plan is a bit different from a regular Direct, in that I'll be talking about what kind of Wii U titles and services Nintendo is developing."
How's revelations anyway? I've only played and beat RE4, so thats my only experience with the series. I heard it was a step up from the supposed shitfest that was RE6.
