Easily the best episode yet. Happy to see the Pro-Bending aspect of the show getting mixed in with the Equalists. Was nice to see that Episode 5 was useful after all.

I think Lin and Korra are going to start getting along now, especially after they saved each other at least once throughout that fight (best fight scene since Aang Vs Ozai too, imo).

Although it sucks to see Amon win, I'm happy he took away the Wolf Bats' bending. Cheaters deserve punishment. Might have been a tad extreme, but oh well, they were douchebags to add on to it. They were completely smug and the only reason they were winning so much is because they were cheating, probably all three years they've won, so good riddens.

I'm with everyone else with the Announcer, that was amazing.

Mako can already lightning bend though. Bolin learning metal bending, I can kind of see.

 Episode 6

Words cannot describe what i was feeling after that episode. Action scenes were flawless and probably my favorite of any avatar episode in existence, the feeling of terror was unprecedented compared to anything in aangs time because amon is SUCH A GOOD VILLAIN, the feeling of helplessness because korra doesn't know how to bend air yet was spot on, and the lin+korra development was magnificent. All i can say is PLEASE KORRA, KEEP KICKING IT UP A THOUSAND NOTCHES.

Here's a series related question...If the "original" benders "learned" bending from a source, what's stopping non-benders from "learning" how to bend as well?

Unless the "sources" are just parts of legends and tales told about the origins of bending, then in which case I get it.

I feel like this episode further confirmed thoughts that Tarlok has something to do with Amon... He was definitely acting very strange. Did anyone else catch that Tenzin initially pulled Lin aside and say she was playing into Tarlok's hands by saying her and her metalbenders would protect the tournament, and afterward, her admitting she played right into Amon's hands? and flashbacks, what.

You don't learn lighting bending you just redirect it. I see bolin learning tophs type of metal bending, spiting on the hands and bending the actual metal not having wires. -_- Biggest let down ever!

General consensus is that hiroshi sato is involved, which also means that him and tarlok are cooperating and that his daughter is manipulating the team for their gain. Sato funded the fire ferrets because he knew they would make it to the finals, which couldn't happen until asami coincidentally bumped into a main component (the leader) of the team, mako. The fire ferrets needed to go against the wolf bats in the finals because the avatar was there which drove the point in amon's speech, the bit about "they were considered the best in the bending world and it only took mere moments to cleanse them of their impurity", home. Tarloc is in my opinion involved because his decisions and mannerisms are shady and he was also the one who introduced korra and sato at the party meant to manipulate her for his own gain.

The main question is, since it isn't likely that either of these people are amon himself (sato because of his figure and tarloc because he can bend water), what do they have to gain by supporting the equalists?

I never thought for a second Hiroshi and Asami Sato could actually be Equalists...

Thinking about tarlocs motivations a little more, there's also the fact that he made lin personally responsible for the safety of the match. If he is equalist he has everything to gain for the movement by allowing the tarnishing of the reputation of metal bending master lin and her battalion which negatively impacts the public's opinion of the benders in general as both the avatar and the chief of police as well as the police themselves were unable to combat/protect the people from amon and his followers. This could push the envelope even more for tarlocs anti-equalist task force, which thinking about it was kinda shady to begin with. How did they find the equalist training compound again? Either way, his personal goals still aren't quite clear. I doubt it's purely political, trying to secure his spot on the council for the post-equalist government (since if he's an equalist he has no doubt that such a thing is an inevitability).

There's also the motivations of hiroshi sato to consider. His company makes cars, right? His company must employ benders to make his creations or at the very least save lots of money by their existence. He doesn't SEEM like a s'hitty person who would manipulate korra and co. for his own agenda, but it doesn't make sense for him to be so generous either. Perhaps he's being manipulated, like the earth king was in aangs time?

This show is continually so awesome. ^He's blowing my mind.

Zuko only learned how to redirect lightning. Both Fire Lord Ozai and Azula were able to lightning bend, because at the time it was a high level fire bending technique.

I do agree that the metal bending seems a bit lacking, but the use of metal wire for the police is interesting.

Metal wire is clearly and easily more versatile than metal bending that toph did. How could it possibly get any better?

Toph made metal bending seem powerful and ferocious, the policeforce using wires just doesn't fit with my idea of metalbending.

I mean come on, Toph bent the sail on an airship with her bare hands. whipping people with cables and swinging around like spiderman just don't have the same effect.
