Why the Secret Spell Scroll system would have never worked.

And the first post by Hime for days is a happy Valentine thread. The ostrich keeps its head in sand.

That thread (and the rest of the forum) needs to be spammed to hell with the dissent of the community. That is, if they're not too busy hiding in the MTS grabbing "epic deals".

I see no notice yet of these issues being acknowledged or worked on. And I see a stupid thread by Hime wishing a Happy Valentines Day and ignoring all posts related to the issues.

Man.. Nexon is mental but the biggest dumbasses are all of us for continuing to play this game.

No one should even bother reporting this, let the game take its last breath. Say fk it throw your hands up in the air and let.it.die.

I agree. Just let this game drop dead already. It can't even live to see union patch without having an even worse economy and yet another mass hacking spree that will happen in March. I'm going back to Runescape, since at least Jagex is competent.

But that isn't going to happen though. The game could get dragged into unplayability for anyone who actually wants to play it, but so long as misguided short-sighted kiddies continue to charge NX for any reason (buying heavily duped garbage in the MTS included) the game will not "die".

Heidi Wrote:But it doesn't CREATE any mesos. The problem is the excessive amounts of mesos flooding the economy. There is too much mesos, and mts is not where it came from. mts assists the process and provides motivation, sure, although it isn't the root of the problem. Once the duping stops, mts will stop being a problem. Even without mts, duping would still be a problem. Unless they stop the duping, MS is totally screwed quite frankly.

Also, from my understanding the SSS actually evade trade tax.

I think getting rid of the MTS would be ideal in cutting down a great amount of duping, because it provides so much incentive. Easy access to large amounts of NX makes it that dupers incur no loss when attempting to dupe (Like in this case each dupe required a Mushroom permit) and also profits from the MTS are much easily sold in the real world as opposed to mesos.

The other huge problem with the MTS, is every time Nexon does a rollback, the MTS/NX is never affected, so any ill gained NX remains, and any NX spent is refunded...

If a Cashshop trading room is implemented instead, it would be less advantageous to Exploiters and much more advantageous to actual players.

If the only fear of a CS trading room is that Dupers can dupe Cash shop items en mass as well, then they should make all CS items untradeable after an initial purchase from a user. This again will make it so Exploiters have to initially invest large amounts of their own real money to attempt duping. The added bonus is if Nexon is losing profits from duped CS items, they are more likely to react IMO.

I don't think a game can survive forever in this state, as people will get bored with it. There's no end in sight of people finding exploits in it, and I suspect nothing short of nearly a complete recode will bring it to at least the level of security present in most successful MMORPG's. I guess the question is whether Nexon will put it out of its misery or whether they'll leave it there in this state just because the dishonest players are so willing to buy NX.

In versions where they do have the Cash Trading room, or really, kMS since I only have experience with that, you can only trade CS items once, and only if you haven't used it, like if you wear some clothes before trading it, you can no longer trade it, or use a pet, or with packaged items, you can only sell the entire package, so if you use 1 of 12 cubes and decide you no longer want to cube, the other 11 are unsellable.

If they would just make it so that logging packets = auto ban, then everything would be hunky dory

Thing is, it's the game that runs on KMS (mostly). But there are not nearly as many problems over there.

I think that would be EXTREMELY hard for them to do, especially with tools like WireShark that don't even directly act on MapleStory specifically. I did hear down the grapevine that spamming of packets results in an autoban now, which is something that would have been great to have years ago.

That's how it is in kMS anyway

In most cases it does autoban now, but even with Wireshark, eliminating packet logging would eliminate a good chunk of exploits being found and abused.

I've never played WoW, but don't you get A/B for logging packets there?

Do you have any idea how packets work outside of MapleStory or are you just assuming things?

I'm talking about packets inside of MapleStory that were abused with PE's like RiPE

At best they could patch a broken design. The fact that the client tells the server what to do rather than the other way around is a very big problem.

Yes, it works in Korea, but it isn't working in the US, and unless they willing to make some very drastic changes, it's over for GMS.

The problem is logging packets sent and received can be achieved with no actual interaction with the game. You wouldn't want to ban people for peeking at the way the game works anyway, or Extractions and this forum would be at fault too (as they have tried to do in the past). In either case, I'm pretty sure it's impossible.

What you want to do is stop making your server so gullible to the packets it receives. There should be no reason for a Mush Shop to lock out a character just because the player can trick the server into saying they are opening a second shop in the same spot (or that is at least how I understand this works). That they can fix, but I think it's you who said that they barely know the games themselves, compared to the hackers. That and they are reluctant to fix the problem, and merely content in patching the various symptoms.
