Been reading mafiascum. Apparently most of the actions I used in this game are treated as scum tells. Go figure.

It is an interesting concept. All these laws put together are almost like rules established to mark a good citizen. I would argue that some of them are based on assumption that everyone is of similar psychology which is not always the case.

That is why I disagree with going purely by the book when playing mafia games. You can't always correctly guess, and nothing is 100% until the end of the game.

But the thing is if every town member followed these rules, it would increase the validity of the collective statements themselves and therefore make mafia-hunting easier when they are pressured and put into a corner. Yet it deters from an individualistic style that is too unorthodox from the base rules. So basically once you start playing mafia, you are to understand that there are certain obligations in this game and to not stray too far from those obligations or else you will be punished.

I've seen a few games of "proper" mafia in which the same things that happened in this game happened. Mafia games are more about random chance even if they are played by the book perfectly, sometimes the mafia gets a break and they win, sometimes the town gets a break and wins, sometimes a neutral gets a break and wins. It's all random chance even if you're playing perfectly by the book.

It's more of the "I think we should lynch so and so" and "This person said this so we should lynch them tomorrow" talk that isn't allowed. Repeating the day's events is okay though.
