Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!)
Justin Wrote:Did ANYBODY in this thread even bother getting the standard edition? lmao seems like no one did.

It doesn't seem worth it if you're ever likely to buy Nintendo Land. I want Nintendo LAnd, so that, combined with the "Nintendo Premium" thing that earns you points on eShop Purchases that you can trade back in for more Nintendo Eshop credit makes it an easy choice.

The difference in hard drive size is pretty bad either way. 32GB (~25GB after the first update, I believe?) isn't serious enough for any significant amount of major DLC, and even if I didn't buy anything on the eshop, I think that it is likely to not even last me through the inevitable game patches that I will need for the Wii Us lifetime.

Speaking of which, can anyone recommend a good external hard drive (say~500GB minimum) that will last a significant amount of time? I've never really b ought an external hard drive before, so I have no idea what to look out for.

100%ed Super Mario Bros U with my buddy this past weekend. I have no idea how far into Sonic Racers I am. We still have 6 ~ 7 more characters to unlock despite being about 4 gates into World Tour. I love how "accessible" the game is. My best friend and I only play on Expert, but my other friends only play on Easy/Normal and they managed to beat me several times (as far as placement, I always have a higher point score ;x). The boost mode glitch sucks, but at least I found out how to get around it so I can unlock Shadow. I haven't tried playing online yet, but it's unplayable apparently. There's a video on Sega's forums full of lol.

So at this point I'm looking forward to Rayman Legends and MH3 Ultimate. I'll probably download Nano Assault after I beat Sonic.

I have a question about the Wii U.

Since the gamepad has a sensor bar built into it and you can play games on your gamepad while other people are watching something on the TV, could you also do it with Wii games? In other words, could you play Wii games in your lap?

If you can, that would be pretty freaking sweet. I could imagine playing through the Metroid Prime trilogy while my dad is watching football or something.

No, it has a separate Wii menu. You still need your tv.

Now I have more errors, now I can't get Wi-fi in my room.

I atually still got a question:

since the storage available for downloads in the standard version is only of 3 GB, and day 1 update was supposedly 1 GB big, what stops standard version buyers from being screwed when future patches arrive? I suppose you can't store OS files into an external HDD.

Biggrin

On the downside: I Had it sent to my parents instead so it doesn't put me off work until I go visit them at christmas.

I hate having responsibilities.

You shouldn't punish yourself like that, haha. Oh well, you don't have to wait THAT long at the very least. You're going to hate yourself for putting off that huge update you'll have to do right off the bat though. Hope your download speeds are fast.

I'd rather wait 3 weeks and not screw up all the presentations and job/phd interviews I need to prepare for.

Besides, since people have worked out you can let the update download in the background, I'll just do that. Plus, it'll probably be a bit faster after a few weeks as opposed to everyone rushing to download it on day 1 (which is probably why it took people ages in America)

I got the Deluxe, i mean i was gonna get Nintendoland anyways, so why not get free extra space and that digital promo. I've only bought New Super Mario Bros, on the eshop, for now. Played ZombiU, didn't like it so much, but it's not really my kinda of game.

Europe gets a Nintendo direct tomorrow

Quote:The presentation will occur at 5PM UK time and will focus on 2012 and "early 2013" software for the Wii U and 3DS. It will be hosted by Nintendo of Europe President Satoru Shibata.

I love how they give us a whole days notice before they do these Rolleyes

Wouldn't it have been cool if 2 people could connect on one Wii U, one using the gamepad and the other having the tv to themselves? Oh wells.

My dad called and told me the other day that he might help me purchase a Wii U, as a Christmas present. He said Gamestop is finally getting some in, so we might get lucky.

On another note, my Club Nintendo reward came in today. :3

 Spoiler

They're so shiny!
