Honestly the only people who have ruined Otaku culture is the Western culture butchering the word. People in Japan don't like Otakus either due to the nature of Japan being a working country and Otakus are seen as "lazy people", but this doesn't imply nor generalize the fact that they're all social inept like it does in America/Western countries.
