Prices will probably drop in the next 4-5 months, right? Christmas sales too...Well, prices will drop, sure, but not THAT much, maybe 100 dollar less for the same this Christmas, so don't expect miracles.
But it's just the question of what you WANT to get. You -can- make a cheap game pc for 500 dollar, but you will hate yourself for spending the 500 dollars on it within a year, because you have to upgrade everything AGAIN next summer.
You can also keep in mind that the next gen consoles will come out in summer ~ christmas 2013 with full hd and all new eye candy, maybe that is a better investment if you want a good "game pc". You will never have to upgrade your console again for the coming 5 years (that will be 2018 by then) and keep playing games smoothly without having to worry about your PC hardware.
For Maplestory, you can even leave out a videocard, because the new Core i5 and i7 onboard GPU is quite ok for 2d gaming.
But if you're really into smooth PC 3D gaming, yeah, new (good) hardware will cost you a lot of money.

Monitor: BenQ XL2420TX 120Hz 24.0" Monitor ($499.00 @ Amazon) I once had this monitor, but returned it, sure it's EXCELLENT for 120hz gaming, ultra fast, etc, etc, however, the colors are TERRIBLE (read: viewing angles). If you have a 100% white/blue/green/red background, it's not 100% the same color on all places of the screen, this has to do with it being it a TN panel (fastest response) and not an IPS/PLS panel (best colors)... I would advise you to get a good IPS monitor (Dell 2410 (not the 2412!!), HP ZR2440w, Eizo Foris FS2332) or a good PLS monitor (Samsung S24A850DW). About IPS vs PLS: IPS is 10% better on color reproduction, PLS is 10% better with viewing angles. Both are 100% better then TN panels on both colors and viewing angles.
