Need help picking computer parts or a new computer? Click here.
What is your current budget?:
$500-600ish

What part are you looking for? Why do you need it?:
Well I am pretty much looking to build a whole computer suited to play Arma 3, DayZ (when that comes out standalone), Battlefield 3, Call of Duty, Valve games, stuff like that.
I need it because my laptop is annoying as crap.

What parts are in your current computer? Be as specific as possible. Links to Newegg/Tigerdirect are best. If you have a pre-built, include the make and model.
ASUS K53SV-XR1

How do you intend to use this new part or new computer? What's the heaviest load it's likely to encounter?
Heaviest load it will encounter? Either Battlefield 3, Starcraft 2, or rendering something out in Sony Vegas Pro.
I intend to use it for mostly gaming and video editing, as my lappy can pretty much do everything else.

Alright so it's obvious I want to build a PC, but I have really no idea where to start. But here are the specifics.
Optical Drive -
CD/DVD Read/Write/Burn

CPU

Core i7 PREFERRED but I hear i5s are pretty good too. I currently have an i7 and I love it ^_^ Definitely 2.5ghz or above... or near there.

Motherboard
- Anything that fits a Core i7... again n00b here don't remember the socket size. Must have PCI E x 32 or whatever the standard is... for my graphics. Maybe stick a sound card in there?

Graphics Card(s?) -
NVIDIA. I know by the time I will have the money for this PC they will be much cheaper than they are right now, but still.
Direct X11 is a must.

Networking -
802.11n WIFI...

PSU -

I HAVE NO IDEA - PLEASE GUIDE ME

RAM -

8 Gigabytes, probably 2 4 gig sticks? Any brand really, preferably a fast clock... I think 1339 or something like that is the average? N00b over here O_o

HDD -

1 Terabyte? 7300 RPM is a must, or even those crazy faster ones... I can skimp on storage for faster speeds. I don't really use more than 300-400 gigabytes anyways usually so storage isn't a must for me like it is for some people, but it would be very, VERY nice.

OS -

Windows 7 - 64 Bit Home Prem. or w/e is cheapest

Case -

No clue. Whatevers cheap and big enough, with enough space for a fan or two.

Liquid Cooling? -
I have no clue how much the fluid or pumps and pipes and stuff cost so if anyone has a liquid cooled PC and could enlighten me on the subject, that would be cool. The only things cooled with liquid would be the CPU and GPU if I'm correct... DX n00b

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I definitely do not have the money for this right now, but odds are near christmas time I will have the cash, but I just want to get prepared. So... guide me DX I have no idea what to look for or what to get... what NOT to look for, etc. etc.

As long as it can run battlefield 3 on mid-high settings I would be happy with it.

Basically, just get me started. What do I do now o_O
