I think something needed to be done, but to be honest, this is not the answer.
There IS a problem with rule enforcement here. Rya and Sushi are always a little to blatant when breaking rules before they're banned (in this case, revealing their identity -> ban evasion) because they do not value their ID/name at all. They know that they can recreate an account and be 'fine'. I agree that there has to be a way to increase that value of their accounts whether it be IP bans, quicker ban triggers, etc. However, I think pinpointing the problem solely on brag posts is incorrect and therefore the solution of filtering posts before they come into certain threads is incorrect. Instead of stopping the threads they want to post badly in, why not just stop them from posting badly. That's a better, more general solution that stops more cases than specifically the ones that are evading bans to brag.
For example instead of "closely moderating" the Dojo thread by filtering out every post, why not just be quick to hand out warnings/bans in that particular thread(maybe even implement some kind of temp ban system if that were possible)? If someone like sushi or rya sees how quickly their accounts get banned for posting stupidly, even they won't see the point in making a random account to post a picture then getting banned.
I think needing to get posts approved hurts the overall forum user experience unnecessarily. It hinders the entire purpose (discussion) and doesn't really completely solve the problem IMO (just some specific cases). Again, I'm all for stricter moderation, but this is the wrong kind.
