It had been AFK for about three hours at that point, and then suddenly I noticed a "The quest has been ended due to an unknown error." popup, even though I wasn't doing anything. Clicking OK kicked me out to the login screen but left my character logged in. By the time I logged back in my spot had been taken, but it didn't look like anyone else had been disconnected. Just really odd, especially out of the blue like that.
That sounds a lot like the Lie Detector Method item used to disconnect people in China Maplestory. I could be wrong though, but it does sound very similar.
