No, I don't think it's overboard. Obviously they should release an announcement asap and then after that have zero tolerance. You'd have to be stupid not to notice things being way out of whack. There are enough other classes in the game at this point that no one needs to be confined to one character during a glitched period. There's not really a good excuse for abusing it.
