Then go read the dragonball manga. Do you know why that had so much "action" (action here meaning standing and yelling for an excessive amount of time) in it? BECAUSE IT USED ALMOST 4 WHOLE CHAPTERS OF THE DRAGONBALL MANGA in those 7 minutes. Plus the fairy tail anime will add lots of extra moves to the fight, just like that anime clip did to dragonball, as they have done with....oh , almost every fight since the phantom lord arc.
Redundant comparisons are redundant.
If, you were to make a fair comparison of one chapter of each, the first of each ones fight, there had been a grand total of 1 kamehama which was easily deflected and some punching and kicking. Compared to multiple new techniques from the Sabretooth characters (Holy Dragon roar/ Shadow Slash/ Holy drive/Shadow Drive/White Dragons Claw/Holy Nova, as well as the Reveal of Holy/Shadow Dragon forces), as well as everything natsu and gajeel did. Plus the major hints towards the backstory of the Sabretooth dragonslayers and exceed.
You honestly must be joking to imply there is even a comparison in the amount of action between this fairy tail chapter and the cell fights.

And you think it's normal for Guild wizards to spend extreme periods of time training? I don't know which manga you've been reading: But I'll give you a hint, virtually no-one stops living their lives in fairy tails universe to train. Especially not for 7 years.
In fact, since the sabretooth guild was the "top" guild in the land after some point within the last 7 years (NOT necessarily right after the fairy tail members were attacked on Tenrou island), as 2 of the top members they would virtually be required to constantly go out on jobs, else sabretooth would lose their standing as the top guild because of not going on jobs, rather than training for 3 months straight, which fairy tail could only afford to do because they had no-one giving them jobs anyway.
