Curiosity leaded us to our actual position, It's normal to be curious and 2 rovers already landed in 2005 (iirc), Spirit and his twin brother. Curiosity is only better equipped.

Well, we will finally know if we can live on Mars. And maybe we will know a bit more about the life in outer space(micro organism).
