Probably the best way to steer clear of disappointment in ranked (aside from rage attacks) is to play with people who are known to be at an acceptable level of skill. If you're finding yourself to be well-versed in skill and mechanics (not just "oh I'm winning"), then you're probably good to go xD Actually, being able to evaluate for that in itself is probably enough.
It also helps that you play a couple hundred more games if you find yourself unsure of what to do in some situations. There's a TON of oddball situations that may come up only a few times out of your whole LoL career.
