Ah, but you can't avoid doing something that is ingrained into you from birth. Put it this way; would you sooner donate to a rapist, or a child with cancer?
Everything is societal morality; now, if you were told constantly as a child that rapists are mentally unstable and deserve the greatest amount of sympathy of anyone on the planet, and then told that anyone with terminal illnesses is hated by god and should be shunned because they are destined to burn in hell, the situation would be entirely different.
