Something happened today that has never happened to me before. Someone tripped my transgendar.
I was at a grocery store through the checkout lane when I saw the cashier. M->F pre-op - very obvious. She was thin as a rail, no hips, wide shoulders, male jawline, but growing breasts. She also had the stereotypical high voice. I felt bad for her. I remember I had always told myself that I would treat these people the same. I tried as best as I could, but it was difficult to not notice that she was different. It seemed so glaring.
Then after she completed my order as I was leaving, I thought, "Kudos to her. She's doing something she really wants to do despite societal pressure. That's not something many people can claim."
I hope she gets what she wants and that someday she'll fool me.
