I think Wizet keeps on switching Aran's gender so that the Legends can have gender equality. So that way, they can make the Pirate Legend (Assuming they're even going to make one. We all know how much Wizet hates Pirates.) female, and then there will be 2.5 males and 2.5 females.
And I'm with ShinkuDragon. Mercedes is the Queen of elves, dammit! Elves aren't supposed to be flat, let alone their queen!
