I guess they just don't care/don't even know that the first benders were taught/they are dumb.

There was an argument made that the ability to be able to bend is genetic; I would agree with that argument. Firstly, Aang's son Bumi is apparently a non-bender. Strange since his mother is a Waterbender and his father is an Airbender (it's noted that all Air Nomads could Airbend, however). There's also the fact that a Firebender can't become and Earthbender and so on. Sure you can learn the theory behind bending, but I imagine it requires a specific gene to actually execute bending.

I found it odd that Lin thought roping the Lieutenant's Lightning Rods was a good idea on Air Temple Island. She should have known better.

Lin shows that, as I said earlier, having sole portions of their armor on their feet is stupid. She could have stopped that if she didn't use them.

Naga owning the Lieutenant was awesome. "MUSTACHE GUY! *BAM!*"

My only problem with the idea of the Insight blocking is that how did he create that fear in the first place? No one knew about it until he did it to that one guy...it wasn't even a thought of anyone's. I suppose it's possible, but I would figure there would have needed to be a thought of the possibility.

With so many major characters losing their bending combined with the different form that Amon uses...it wouldn't surprise me if it is indeed temporary.

Secondly, I also am certain that while Lin is a talented Earth/Metalbender, she didn't inherit all of her mother's prowess. The two occasions she has been shown using seismic sense she had to lift her foot and strike the ground. That is never shown for Toph. So she probably cannot sense as well as Toph, and that makes sense. Lin can see, Toph could not. Toph had to use seismic sense.
