We wouldn't be having this semantic argument right now if it weren't for people sloppily degrading into generalities to the point where a term is now ambiguous because it could be a positive or negative thing depending on how you choose to interpret it, which rather makes my point for me.
Fair enough. I'm sure no two people have the same exact meaning for any given word. For me, all of the derivatives of pride have a negative connotation, from a sparse nearly indifferent pride to an intense "I'll kill you if you disagree" pride, I just think of it as putting blinders on a person at very best. I think of a lot of emotions that way, honestly...
