Specificity exists because distinctions exist.
If we all used the most general term for everything possible no one would understand what anyone meant.
If anything the world needs vastly more words because I'm sick of every positive feeling people have towards one another being bastardized down to "love", diluting any meaning the word has in English because it now means virtually anything and can be misconstrued rather easily because it boils down to what the hearer assumes someone means. That's not communication.
We wouldn't be having this semantic argument right now if it weren't for people sloppily degrading into generalities to the point where a term is now ambiguous because it could be a positive or negative thing depending on how you choose to interpret it, which rather makes my point for me.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.
