I guess it won't be if it doesn't work on bosses.
The explanation isn't very clear: :"Provokes a monster, causing its general defense to increase. As a result, EXP earned and drop rate for items will increase for this monster."

I had got taunt at level 13x, and have been using it ever since.
At skeles, it's really useful, I get an extra 1-2k EXP from each skele and during 2x that's like almost 5k extra per skele. I usually TT 2 times then jump and use taunt because taunting in air takes less time than on ground and then while venom is killing the monster, the taunt usually finishes off the monster. If not I just TT 1 more time and it dies.
Works in mobs too because you can hit up to 6 monsters with it now, so I really reccomend getting it.
