Let's examine really how competent Nexon has been the past month or so:
A. Removal of MTS after years of economic problems is a good move but overdue. But I'll give you that.
B. Server Merge is yet to happen. If there's a seamless transition with no merge-related glitches that's a step in the right direction. But after so many glitches arising in patches after complete lack of testing their own content, expectations are low. Announcing that the merge will take place merely a week later and then postponing it ~3 business days can be seen as quality assurance, but can also be seen as lack of planning. So this one is a TBD.
C. The past week they started answering account-hacking-related tickets much quicker and giving out MP as compensation to some. I however have a hard time understanding how Nexon can distinguish whether an account has been banned due to the player's stupidity (i.e. they could have downloaded a keylogger along with downloading a hack), or a player was hacked by no fault of their own. If a player was hacked due to their own stupidity, giving them a crapload of MP as "compensation" does not scream competence to me. You may retort with "Nexon can't be that naive to give free NX to hackers". Well, Nexon has always been that naive by having a history of such head-scratching actions.
So yeah, 1 month of minor "fix-me-ups" (some of which are yet to properly be judged because it's too early to tell whether they're actually steps in the right direction) does not a good company make.
Fantasmo Wrote:and we haven't had any significant hacker issues since April, where they addressed it quite well.I think you mean May. And that issue right there was not addressed "quite well". Nexon was not thorough in their wipe of illegally generated equips. Hackers gained limitless MP through this hack, "hid it", and hid it well. Hackers have various ways of hiding items including uncommon ones. If Nexon was on top of their game it wouldn't take them 2+ patches (and counting, I'd bet) to clean this up.
Fantasmo Wrote:Also, it seems like every patch, more and more duped items are being deleted.Maybe that's because more and more duped items are still currently being generated. Adding to that, like I've said earlier, hackers have "other" ways of hiding items. If Nexon was competent, they'd be well aware of this. It doesn't seem like they are or try to be, but I'm hoping they start to be soon.
Fantasmo Wrote:You need to look no further than yesterday to see an example. It took them a total of 4 hours, in the middle of the night too, to find out that someone ha discovered a channel crash and fix it. This is insane, seeing that people used to use the same crashes for weeks or months on end.I'll give them that they acted fast...this time. But let's see if they can keep it up.
All in all, a month of baby steps after years of mismanagement does not make you competent all of a sudden. MUCH MUCH more has to be done and with more consistency and intelligence.
Edit: your last post is quoting me wrong. I said "Why has the game been dying?" (past) not "why is the game dying?" (present). But I still see the state of the game as currently in a sad place. It's just that it's slightly less sad than it was a month ago.
