Chevrolet is implying that the car did not choose to be gay. The car was purposefully designed from the ground up to be gay. Thus, he was born that way, making the song incredibly fitting for the occasion, and it also jives with the commonly held beliefs of the LGBT community.

I think you are spot on with that interpretation actually, the way it's worded makes 'Electric' sound different, but perfectly okay.
