While there was some pre-Big Bang, everything that has been done to Maplestory since has only been a march towards removing any sort of specialization.
Would be quite a revolution were it true, however.
Actually, thinking about it, Phantoms were a move towards allowing specialization, but it probably wasn't intentional.
