Look at it this way. Your falcon adds 10 dex, a z-helm would add 15 dex AND 15 strength... that's an extra 20 stats. Z-helms look ugly but the extra 20 stats makes up for it (not to mention extra wep def and mag def... extremely useful at HT pirates).
If you dont want to buy a z-helm, you can go get a better dark cordon (or scroll your own?) There are a few 8 atks out there and maybe even a 10 atk. I suppose what you have now is fine (as you have enough strength equips that you can just replace them when you do get a z-helm) but they could be a lot better if you dont mind the looks of certain items xD (Hey, you can always market in MTS and buy an nx set xD)
