^ Oh man, that would be SO AWESOME if you could pull that off. I also commend you on not going for the Warhammer of Zillyhoo, because as awesome as it is, practically every John cosplayer I've seen with a weapon has it.
You can probably make the cubes out of cardboard... but I have zero clue how to make things for cosplays.
And if you do somehow manage to make it, you should include the gloves as well, since John's technically not able to wield it without them.
