I wasn't aware that repeatedly being forced to use your strongest techniques (In itachis case, Amaterasu, Tsukiyomi and Susano have all been used in this fight...) was doing nothing... And itachi would have lost this fight if sasuke wasn't there, since he couldn't break the genjutsu on his own.

Also: What happened to that sealing kunai kabuto was holding at the start? It's gone by the time he slashes itachi in half.

Defending =/= beating the enemy. The fact Itachi has had to use his strongest techniques for defense and not attack tells enough he is not doing well. its not like Kabuto is using uber strong techniques, at least not to the level of Edo-Tensei Nagato. Yes, Itachi prolly wouldn't have broke out of his jutsu if Sasuke wasn't there, but one usefull move does not usefull a character make.
