You shouldn't be surprised that they can. As a software company that needs to adjust quickly to profits and losses from up to millions of micro-transactions daily, they need to maintain good control of such things - even if that is the only control they have. Just think...if they can pull 2x events (e.g. 2x drop) outta their asses on the server side, why wouldn't they be able to change anything else that the server generates?
