This just in from my university professor:
1^inf can't be worked on because you can't be sure how the symbol inf, relates to numbers. Interestingly enough though:
lim x-> inf (1^x) IS actually 1.
This is because as X becomes larger, you're value will still be 1. This you are taking the limit of a fixed number, meaning your end limit will still be 1.
