Hm, I think it was something a few people thought up in beta and continued to practice through the early days of Scania. I don't think it was a hugely known theory but I remember a few people trying to explain it to me. It might've even been kept as a 'secret' among a group of people I knew because it supposedly worked so well. Even if such a thing were true, it probably doesn't really apply anymore with the new drop rates.
Another thing I remember is if you had a warrior, to leave final attack at the level in which it only has a 10% chance of occurring and counting how many swings it took to get it to activate, 'mastering' the pattern. Then you could swing x amount of times and when your next attack is anticipated to activate final attack, use a 10% scroll instead and it was "guaranteed" to pass.
