I just read the part from the manga where ulquiorra dies again. He's asking Ichigo to cut him down before he turns into ash because otherwise "this battle will remain forever unsettled". And before it, when he started to shatter in air he said "tch...it's this bad?"
What if he didn't die, but was about to be sent somewhere that he would rather avoid by dying?
Or, maybe ulquiorra will find a way out of the underworld.
You have it completely wrong, the battle would be unsettled because if ichigo did not deliver the killing blow to ulquiorra, then technically in the eyes of warriors, that battle was not finished. Although Ulquiorra would technically have died from wounds inflicted from ichigo, it still would not have ended the battle between them (probably because hollow ichigo was the one to inflict said wounds). He's says "Tch... it's this bad" because he clearly started "corroding" before he thought he would given his injuries, not because he was afraid of being sent somewhere else. Bleach has given no evidence of arrancar or shinigami being sent somewhere specific after death, so to our knowledge ulquiorra wasn't avoiding some other plane of existence, as you suggested.
In the event that ulquiorra does make a reappearance in bleach, barring a flash back, then bleach is even more bullshit that I previously thought.
