Seems very dumb to me if insurance companies actually act on these provisions and don't provide coverage any ways. It would be incredibly expensive for them cover one pregnancy compared to birth control. Birth control is at most 50 dollars per month. "The average cost of a normal pregnancy and birth is about $7,600, according to a 2007 report from the Department of Health and Human Services." That is just the cost of the pregnancy and delivery, not any of the vaccinations or following checkups with a paediatrician. So if an insurance company covers birth control for 13 years, they have equalled the cost of single pregnancy.
I can see happylight's opinion and reasoning, as technically sex is a recreational activity, unless you are trying to get pregnant, in which case this law doesn't effect you. Personally, I think it is foolish to not cover birth control, as the USA has enough unplanned and unwanted pregnancies as it is. They don't need more and this is an easy way to increase that number.
