If it all plays out with a good story, there's no faux pas in the story like seeing the Mikhail NPC, then it could all work out okay. On top of that when he goes to the future and Alex talks about Cygnus the character better be confused or people better be scared of him. When the hair dude stops you there should be something like "HOLY CRAP ITS MIKHAIL EVERYONE BATTLE STATIONS NOW" or something.
