My friends don't really say much about it.
The ones that do usually comment on the 2D aspect, and I pretty much reply with you played SNES growing up, didn't you? Pretty much ends the argument.
Or the other half of my friends play WoW or another mmo, and they kinda have a mutual respect and understanding for each others' games.
