I believe the passive damage from ADA works in the exact same manner so that's my main evidence. I thought the logic (assuming developers have logic) was that since you can't prevent it from attacking, you shouldn't be penalized for it. It's incredibly annoying at empress since it kills the entire party in only a few seconds.
